Your first appointment at MindMakeover will start you on the path to becoming the person you'd really like to be - thinking, feeling and behaving in ways that you feel will benefit your life. There's no need to stay stuck – change can happen when you choose the right therapist to guide and support you.

With such a wide range of hypnotherapists in York – why am I the right choice?

With my background and experience as a Chartered Psychologist, I have the highest quality skills and knowledge developed over many years of education, training and professional practice. This thorough grounding in Psychological Science and understanding the human mind and behaviour means I'm well placed to provide you with well-informed, effective and efficient help. Hypnotherapy is not just about hypnosis – the most important part is the therapy that takes place before, during and after the hypnotic experience.

Although we may be working with serious issues, my approach is always warm, friendly and welcoming. You will soon feel at ease. I aim to help you make a positive difference to your life, allowing you to overcome issues that affect your personal well-being and happiness. I specialise in reducing anxiety and help people of all ages and from all walks of life.

Working to the highest professional standards, I guarantee to provide you with the best service I can. I'm constantly updating my knowledge through research, and undertake training in the latest techniques to keep my skills up to date with developments in the world of psychotherapy.

I'm qualified to draw on a comprehensive range of psychological techniques and psychotherapeutic approaches to help you tackle whatever is troubling you. You are unique, so I never apply a one-size fits all approach. We work together to discover what suits you best and then focus on what you realistically want to achieve. I describe myself as a personal development specialist because I help you to become the person you really want to be. I'm the expert on therapy but you are the expert on you. Together we can make a winning team and get great results!

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. Chartered status is the benchmark of professional recognition for psychologists, reflecting the highest standards of psychological knowledge, expertise, experience, competence and reputation. Chartered status requires high levels of academic attainment, supervised practice, applied experience and a commitment to lifelong learning.

I’ve completed an EMDR Association approved course in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing and I’m a Registered Advanced BWRT Practitioner.

I have a Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma, Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Diploma in NLP & Hypnotic Coaching. I’m a Senior Practitioner on the General Hypnotherapy Register and hold the General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice, accredited to supervise other hypnotherapists.

I’m registered for the discipline of hypnotherapy with the UK regulator, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, which enhances public protection. The Department of Health has recommended that, where the CNHC registers the professional discipline in question, you consult with someone who is CNHC registered.

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

The General Hypnotherapy Register

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I'm always happy to chat with anyone interested in hypnotherapy. Get in touch and we can arrange a free informal telephone discussion so you can decide that I am the right hypnotherapist for you. I can also send you further information about specific issues and the way I work.

We plan sessions at intervals to suit you and your budget and you can pay on a session-by-session basis if you wish. Each session is charged at £90, including the first session which lasts 90 minutes. If you would like to book a block of sessions then I can offer a discount. I'm a Chartered Psychologist as well as a qualified hypnotherapy Practitioner so have a strong background in helping people achieve the changes they desire.
