One client suffering anxiety and emetophobia was so pleased with the outcome of her first session she sent me this kind message:

"Hi Sue, since my session with you everything has totally changed! It’s as if I’m living a normal life! It has made my life bearable again and I honestly cannot thank you enough! Words cannot describe how my life has turned around and I am not spending each day thinking "do I feel sick? Am I going to be sick? I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am. Thank you so much."

How can Hypnotherapy help you?

"Research has shown that there is more scientific evidence for hypnotherapy than any other Complimentary Therapy ... by using hypnosis people can perform prodigious feats of will power and self healing"  The Health Education Authority

Hypnosis is the single most powerful psychotherapeutic tool for breaking the negative trance states of depression and anxiety. Using hypnosis the subconscious is stimulated to allow desired changes to occur which is made all the more effective because the conscious mind, often the part which stresses us, is quietened and relaxed.

It can help you make changes with:

anxiety; depression; addictions, anger, blood pressure, blushing, lack of confidence; presentation anxiety; social anxiety; weight control, sleeping difficulties, IBS, relationship/marital difficulties, migraine, nail-biting, nightmares, obsessions, pain control, panic attacks, phobias, sexual problems, skin disorders, stress, trauma flashbacks and many other troublesome issues.

Hypnosis is a normal and natural method of altering someone's state of consciousness. It is very pleasant and relaxing but at one with deep concentration.

Hypnotherapy is the application of hypnotic techniques in such a way as to bring about therapeutic change.  Dwelling on the origins or causes of the problem will not be necessary as we work on the proffered future.

Brief or Solution Focused Therapy: Brief therapy is also called “Solution-Focused Brief Therapy”. Hypnosis when combined with practical, modern and well researched strategies of CBT and NLP can empower people make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time. It works by awakening abilities which often appear beyond the person’s conscious control. It is particularly helpful with confidence and self esteem problems and is now recognised as one of the most successful interventions (and also alongside medication) for depression and anxiety (including panic attacks, emetophobia, agoraphobia, IBS etc).

Excess and sustained stress can have a major effect on our long term health.  Often we can be unaware of the negative impact stress has on our subconscious minds until we becoming consciously preoccupied with how we feel, that is when things start to feel they are out of our control.

By focusing on reducing these effects, hypnotherapy can help you gain a better perspective; feeling more in control; improving confidence; motivation and self esteem.

Initial Consultation

Each client is invited to make initial consultation with no obligation to make any further appointments. The initial consultation provides an opportunity for you to determine whether hypnotherapy is right for you and to create a programme tailored to your needs and you will receive a complimentary recording to begin the process. Clients have told me the initial consultation was enlightening for them, because by understanding how our mind works in relation to their particular circumstances, they feel empowered to make changes. They feel less daunted.

During the consultation I can show you how our thoughts can cause us to become stuck, anxious or depressed and explain how these thoughts can shift by providing you with powerful tools and techniques to assist.

How many sessions will I need?

Change can be stimulated relatively quickly as you can see from Miss D's testimonial above, and therefore can require comparatively few sessions:

Most clients notice improvements during the week after their first appointment.

The average length of treatment varies according to the individual but is generally under eight sessions.

Phobias such as spiders, flying, public-speaking etc., can be removed quickly, generally in three to four sessions. Painful memories and traumatic experiences can often be dealt with in the same way. Certain phobias aren't true phobias, e.g claustrophobia, agoraphobia and these require more sessions to enable us to reduce or remove the underlying anxieties causing the problem.

Smoking Cessation usually requires one session of up to two hours. For those who smoke or vape and have underlying issues with stress or anxiety, it may be preferable to work on those first, but this is something we can discuss.

What will I need to do to help myself?

It is important to understand that hypnotherapy is not a magic pill. The client's own commitment to change and to work with me is fundamental to making that desired change a reality.

As with anything worth achieving your 100% commitment is essential and can pay dividends.

I look forward to hearing about positive things which have occurred to you between sessions and as you find the problem shifting so you will have more positive events to tell me about.

Also listening to my recording each night before sleeping continues the process between sessions and this forms an important part of the programme. Clients who commit to doing this tend to progress more quickly

Making the first step is often the hardest. Contact me on 07795964066 or cardiffhypnotherapysolutions@gmail.co.uk if you would like to have a chat about hypnotherapy or to consider arranging an appointment.

Training, qualifications & experience

Why choose me?

It is important to know that anyone can call themselves a psychotherapist or hypnotherapist. Therefore when searching for a person to work with, it is essential to satisfy yourself of the therapist's professional qualifications and credentials. I am an accredited member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy MNCH (Acc) as well as the Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). Both bodies have strict Codes of Ethical Conduct, which I uphold.

My Background

My background is in the legal profession for 25 years in Cardiff, Newport and Bristol with most of them spent as a family lawyer. It was while I was working in my legal role I developed a passion for helping my clients to address their personal difficulties and achieve the best outcome for them.  Many of the skills transferred to my career in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, including vital thorough listening and identifying bespoke ways to promote improved thought processes. I am motivated by the simplicity of how so many desired changes can be made without the need for an agonisingly lengthy process.

By using the techniques of Solution Focused Brief Therapy, NLP and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy I enjoy seeing my clients' delight when their efforts are rewarded.
