My first experience of Hypnotherapy was over 15 years ago when it helped me to stop smoking. After several previous attempts through other means, it was the one that worked for me - in one session to boot!
And through my subsequent training, learning and application of Hypnotherapy, as well as my own life experience, I have witnessed the capacity of the mind to both make one as well, happy and confident as it has ill, sad and reclusive.
If it means much to you, my training in Hypnotherapy has to this point been Ericksonian, having studied at LCCH in London. But in practice, I consider myself to be an eclectic therapist in the sense that I will borrow and integrate any approach that will help achieve your desired goal. I do not specialise in any one area as such; however through marriage I have experience of and am sensitive to, the cultural challenges and pressures of Asians living in the UK.
So as you look on this directory for a hypnotherapist, what are the criteria you should be looking for? For the most part, you will find considerable overlap between one therapist and the next in terms of our experience and answers to the issues you present. And if you set aside for a moment, geography and money, what are you left with?
As I see it, you are left with personality and compatibility. For Hypnotherapy is a highly personal experience, not only in your inner experience but also that of the relationship between you and your therapist. So my one piece of advice when you are "therapist-shopping" is to treat it just like that. Give a few of us a call and talk to us. Just as you form an impression of someone in the first few moments you see them, you can get a sense of someone's energy and spirit over the phone. Trust your instincts. For the more compatible your therapist is with you, then the more likely it is that you will have a positive, beneficial and productive experience.
In the first instance though, just call me. Hypnotherapy works really well for some conditions, but not so well for others. Phone calls are free and can help both you and I decide if this avenue of treatment is the best for you.
My standard session is 50 minutes but sometimes I will work longer - it really depends on your availability and expectation. Smoking cessation, for example, is offered as a two session package.
Other conditions will require different approaches. Again, this can be discussed over the telephone.
