Training, qualifications & experience
What is my professional background?
As a former secondary school teacher and leader, with over eighteen years experience in the field of education, I am dedicated to helping and supporting individuals in developing their natural abilities to be the person they want to be, living the life they want to live.
I know all too well how the pressures of a stressful occupation can affect your health and well-being, but hypnotherapy can help with that. As a mother of two school-aged children, I have a fairly comprehensive understanding of the pressures of modern-day living and family life and hypnotherapy can also help with that. What’s more, my background in education means I have a great deal of empathy with what it is like to be a young person in modern society and hypnotherapy can help with that too. In fact, I think that everyone can benefit from hypnotherapy!
What led me to train as a hypnotherapist?
A series of life-changing events led me to try solution-focused hypnotherapy sessions for myself and the results were so dramatically great that I was drawn to the field of psychotherapy, and I have never looked back.
Having achieved a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and a Higher Practitioner Diploma at the Clifton Practice in Bristol, a recognised centre of excellence for hypnotherapy, I have received some of the best practical and theoretical training that the UK has to offer. I am a registered member of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH), fully insured and DBS checked.

Your initial consultation and assessment is £50 and lasts approximately one hour. During this session, I will gather some useful background information and then explain a little bit about how the brain works and how hypnotherapy can help you. What you will learn will be fascinating and you can expect a few ‘Ah ha’ moments.
Thereafter, each individually tailored session is £50 and typically lasts 55-60 minutes. It’s recommended that people come along weekly, especially in the first instance, in order to maximise the speed and effectiveness of positive changes.
Individually tailored sessions start with a conversation about what has been going well since we last met, however small, as our aim is to place your thinking in the part of the brain that is most receptive to positivity and rational thought. The brain is a wonderfully adaptive organ that CAN be retrained to think well. Next, we will do a little brain revision so that you are reminded of the benefits of positive thought, interaction and action, and will follow this with a fabulously relaxing 20-25 minute session on the hypnotherapy couch.
If attending for treatment of a fears or phobia, the session package is comprised of an initial consultation followed by just 3 individually tailored sessions aimed at combatting your fear/phobia (£50 per session) in fairly quick succession.
Smoking cessation sessions are £130 and last approximately two hours. I will start by gathering some useful background information and then explain a little bit about how the brain works and how hypnotherapy can help you to give up smoking. What you will learn will be fascinating and you will be able to apply your new knowledge to improving other parts of your life. The final part of the session will be a trance session on the couch before you depart to start your smoke-free life!
If you are new to hypnotherapy, you will be in control at ALL TIMES. The trance state you will achieve is very normal; you actually go into trance throughout the day, say, when you are driving and wonder how you arrived at your destination or when you are watching television and find you’ve drifted off and missed a crucial moment. It’s a part of the session that everyone enjoys and most people are reluctant to leave!
Appointments available Monday-Friday - daytime and some evenings.
