Saira Hasan GHR, GHSC, CNHC
My speciality is helping women overcome myriad anxiety and stress-related problems that manifest themselves in different ways. I use clinical Hypnotherapy integrated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR to support you in your healing journey. I have specialized in anxiety and panic disorders, fears and phobias, preparing for childbirth or IVF treatment , PTSD and trauma, insomnia and smoking cessation. I also use gastric banding or stapling techniques to help significantly overweight clients.
What is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) is an evidence based practice where Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is integrated with Clinical Hypnosis in order to maximise successful treatment. CBH practitioners like me aim to show clients that most psychological problems stem from negative self-hypnosis, self-defeating thoughts and negative imagery. My job is to empower clients and teach them how to control the self-hypnotic process.
What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural therapy or CBT is a common sense approach to therapy where I will not only keep your previous history in mind but also focus on the 'current' situation and what is maintaining it. We will work collaboratively as a team to develop treatment goals and target negative cognitions, emotions and beliefs in a focused manner. I will give you fun assignments as well ( I hate the word 'homework' as it activates bad memories!), where you will learn how to practice coping skills and techniques in real life.
Why combine CBT and Hypnosis?
I use clinical Hypnosis to induce a state of deep relaxation which is central to both CBT and Mindfulness techniques. It increases the vividness of mental imagery and helps in shifting and enhancing emotional states . Thus, I teach clients how to induce self hypnosis with the help of hypnosis tapes that helps them cope with real life situations. Clients are also taught de-hypnosis where they can detach themselves from their thoughts and emotions and learn acceptance of situations that are beyond their control. I also use hypnosis to reinforce the gains made in the session and connect with the subconscious mind. It increases clients' self-efficacy as they discover the power of their own wonderful minds and thoughts. Thus begins a journey where improved self-talk, self- acceptance, self praise and encouragement leads to a more confident and empowered you.
… so this is how it works...
- If you are interested, fill in the e mail form and I will respond to you as soon as I can.
- We will set up a time for our free initial 20 minutes phone conversation . Feel free to ask any questions that come to mind and I will be happy to answer them within the allotted time. If we are both happy to move forward, we can set up an initial assessment session. I might forward some forms to you via e mail that you can fill in and bring to the initial session. Please ensure that for cases like pain management and insomnia, your GP has ruled out other possible medical conditions.
- An initial assessment session ideally lasts for two hours as we need to obtain as much information as possible . This might also include signing a contract, filling additional health forms and completing questionnaires. At this stage, if I feel that your condition is more severe than what I can safely treat, I will do my best to refer you to another therapist. If I feel that I can help you, we will collaborate with each other to clarify goals and make a possible treatment plan. We will determine how many sessions we will need to meet our end goals: normally 4-6 sessions.
- Subsequent sessions would generally be around an hour and 15 minutes.
- A typical session might follow this pattern:
- Checking current condition and reviewing progress
- Mutually agreeing agenda for current session
- Reviewing homework results
- Working through different CBT/Mindfulness/ACT /EMDR coping techniques followed by a hypnosis session which reinforces positive gains.
- Agree next stage of between- session tasks including listening to hypnosis tapes.
- Wrap up with feedback on current session.
… so, do get in touch as I have a rucksack of tips and techniques for you to live your best life!!!

I cannot recommend Saira highly enough. I saw Saira, in her beautiful treatment room in Rickmansworth, for CBT, hypnosis and EMDR in order to help me with insomnia, caused by stress during a difficult time, which was affecting my ability to function. Saira’s professional, gentle manner immediately reassured me. She provided a safe space to talk openly and showed endless patience and understanding. Following Saira’s expert advice and the practices that she taught me, I was able to make changes to improve my sleep patterns drastically. We also worked more deeply to deal with some challenging issues. Saira’s help has been invaluable.
'During my final year at University, my anxiety and depression was at an all time high. The stigma surrounding mental health issues made it hard for me to find the support I needed.
I didn’t want to rely on medication to help me get through the day. I wanted to be able to conquer my issues ‘naturally’, and so, I decided to research different forms of therapy that would help.
I had no knowledge or experience of hypnotherapy, and which hypnotherapist to go to was very much a shot in the dark for me. I was very, very fortunate to choose Saira Hasan.
After our first session, I felt as though the dark cloud that had followed me for years had begun to drift away. I had forgotten what it felt like to have hope.
It was immediately made clear that Mrs Hasan was not only very well qualified in her field, but was well versed in the latest research and was willing to employ new and different techniques tailored to suit her clients. An extremely empathic and friendly person, she immediately made me feel comfortable and able to speak freely about the issues that had been haunting me. She explained what could be quite complex concepts in simple terms, without ever making me feel overwhelmed.
Not only did she provide excellent guidance during our cognitive sessions in person, Mrs Hasan is always available via email to help with any current issues I am having.
Since our sessions I have no hesitation in saying that I have made tremendous improvements and have only Mrs Hasan to thank.
I cannot fault her on any level and I highly recommend Saira Hasan to anybody experiencing issues with social anxiety, fears/phobias and breaking bad habits.
I went to see Saira for weight loss before my daughter’s wedding. I wanted to lose weight fast before the big day and fit into my special dress. She was very professional and explained everything to me very clearly and gave me every opportunity to ask questions. I saw her for over a number of sessions and she used CBT and hypnotherapy to create an aversion to sugary foods ( I used to feel nauseous whenever I reached out for cake) , overcome mindless eating, instilled conscious and subconscious affirmations and finally did virtual gastric stapling surgery to help me achieve my goal weight. I felt really confident and happy on the big day and I have Saira to thank for that! I highly recommend her for weight loss and confidence building.
