🌹 Anxiety can present in many ways. I'm experienced in helping adults learn how to overcome anxiety and live authentically and in keeping with their values.
🌹 Do you have IBS? Is the menopause making it worse or making you feel like you've lost your mind?
🌹 Book a free 15-minute appointment so I can get to know you better and see if this is the right time for us to work together. If I don't feel it is, I will refer to to a colleague or make another suggestion. Therapists are not in competition! It's just a matter of finding the best match for you now. I will support you whilst challenging you to explore why you keep doing the things you do the way you do. Then you can learn ways to change for a better life.
🌹 Is your IBS/irritable bowel syndrome getting on your nerves? Are you fed up with planning your outings around toilet availability? IBS isn't a disease where the bowel looks abnormal. Instead it's a syndrome, affecting about 1 in 5 people, where the bowel seems to be oversensitive and doesn't function normally. People with IBS can struggle with bloating, pain, diarrhoea and/or constipation, as well as symptoms outside the bowel.
Over 30 years of research have shown that gut-focused hypnotherapy can relieve some of the most troubling symptoms in over 2/3 of adults with IBS. In fact, UK NICE guidelines recommend hypnotherapy +/- cognitive behavioural therapy for IBS sufferers when symptoms are still causing problems after 12 months on an optimal diet and prescribed medications.
I can teach you evidence-based gut-focused hypnotherapy over a 12-week period. As long as your IBS is the main concern, this should be sufficient time for you to achieve significant relief of symptoms. Your IBS will not be cured, but would be expected to improve in this time if complementary techniques are going to help you.
Training, qualifications & experience
Why work with me?
I am experienced: I was an NHS hospital doctor for over 25 years, working with people with emergency and/or longterm medical conditions.
I also have lots of relevant qualifications from genuine institutions:
Medical qualifications: BSc; MB BS (medical degree); MD (post-graduate doctorate); FRCP (post-graduate exam upgraded because senior colleagues recommended me as a safe pair of hands)
Therapy qualifications: Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy Dip CBH from the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy in Harley St., London. The Diploma course is approved by all of the main hypnotherapy organisations (GHR; NCH; REBHP; GHSC; NCFE; ACCPH; FHT; professional standards authority). It is the only hypnotherapy training course to be approved as CPD for registered psychologists by the British Psychological Society.
I work pro bono for Anxiety UK as a registered therapist.
I was an honorary tutor at Edge Hill University; Royal College of Physicians examiner/exam writer/exam board editor. I do a lot of work with anxious post-graduate students who realise that their former undergraduate lifestyle is not sustainable.
I am a counselling intern with Headstrong Counselling.

The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)
Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).
Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.
All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Information about health conditions (*)
Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.
Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

If you wish to learn gut-focused hypnotherapy, it is essential that your doctor or gastroenterologist has confirmed that you have IBS. This is because more serious diseases could be masked.
You also need to undertake daily practice if you join the 12-week course.
