With over twenty years experience of working in psychotherapy, (including as a hypnotherapist since 2012) I provide a combination of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness and NLP techniques to provide an engaging and successful therapy treatment program tailored to suit you and your particular issues or goals. TESTIMONIALS

M. Harris, London (Anxiety - Confidence - Relationships)

“Richard is a true professional. He is knowledgeable in his field and extremely personable. Richard manages to combine an insightful, scientific approach to the workings of the mind with a more personal discussion -based interaction. He is warm, open and emotionally available, which puts one at ease and makes one feel as though they can be completely open and honest about whatever issue they are trying to resolve. I found both the solution based hypnotherapy and the mindfulness practice to have enormous positive transformative effects over a short space of time. I cannot recommend Richard more highly and I hope he continues to help a growing number of clients.”

Peter H, Somerset (OCD)

"Richard is a person whose care and concern for his clients, lies at the centre of his practice. I have felt that in the time we worked together I was able to be completely honest with him as a professional therapist.

He is a professional who goes the extra mile for his clients. I was always able to pick his brain about anything which worried me at anytime and I was never made to feel like this was a burden. He took a sincere interest in my condition and created a tailor-made programme for me.

I feel the time spent under his care was extremely useful, I utilise the methods he taught me regularly and believe I am in a better place because of his work. I would recommend Richard to anyone without a moments hesitation."

Diane B. Wells, Somerset (Smoking Cessation)

“Thank you for your help and treatment to help me stopping smoking it seems to have really worked. My health is a lot better already. I can't thank you enough.”

Peter W.  Factory Manager, Somerset  (Panic Attacks - Anxiety - Insomnia)

“I felt very comfortable talking to Richard and he was extremely understanding and flexible with appointments. A superb therapist and someone I felt able to trust when I felt at my most vulnerable.”

While I specialize in assisting people with all forms of trauma and anxiety based issues from intrusive thoughts through to phobias, addictions, eating disorders and IBS, to name a few, I do also offer specialist courses for teenagers and their parents.

SPECIALISM: HELPING PARENTS AND TEENAGERS

As the parent of a child who suddenly started having epileptic seizures as a teenager, I have researched deeply, and have a special interest in, teenage brain development and mental health. This is an area where much important neurological and psychological research is being done at this time. I also give talks to other therapists about this subject. The short engaging  courses to teenagers and their parents I provide are healing, supportive and help them make the most of these important years. Time and again I have been informed how incredibly helpful this course has been to parents and teenagers alike and have many referrals as a result.

Reducing stress in the teenage years has life-changing, long-term benefits for the teenager and their family.

Courses for teenagers and their parents

I have developed this original and informative 2 session course, designed to engage teenagers (12-24) and parents alike. I explain the latest neuro-scientific understanding of the remarkable development in teenagers’ brains and how natural evolutionary developments lie behind the difficulties and challenges of being a teenager (and living with one). A proper understanding of these allows the parents and teenagers to circumnavigate the pitfalls and make the most of the great opportunities of this period in our lives.

Methods and techniques for reducing stress and anxiety appropriate for teenagers are also explained. The information in this course can be quite a revelation and opens up new understandings and opportunities for resolving conflicts and moving forward creatively. A Hypnotherapy soundtrack is also included. As we and they come to understand what is really happening in their "teenager" brains we can help teens to feel at ease with themselves and their experiences and to direct their energies in creative and rewarding ways.

It is an enlightening course designed to help parents understand what their teenagers are experiencing, how to help them and also feel less stressed themselves! When parents understand what is going on in their teenager's brain they can more confidently handle the inevitable teen crisis which previously caused them stress and grief. In addition, the hypnotherapy and relaxation tips help make this a really empowering opportunity to turn things around.

It is not unusual for teenagers to suffer from sleep problems, self-esteem and confidence issues, anxiety and depression at some time. These symptoms can seriously affect their education and while they may be temporary they can go on to form the foundation for long-term difficulties. Addressing them with the right therapy intervention can enhance their happiness and academic achievements as well as their productivity throughout their adult lives.

For more information about how this could work for you and your teenager please don't hesitate to contact me.
