Paula Young PG Cert (Clin.Hyp), BSCH (Assoc.)
Hi, I am a qualified and accredited Clinical Hypnotherapist and have over 10 years of experience working with issues such as anxiety, phobias, stress, panic, and confidence issues. I use an integrative approach to therapy, tailoring sessions to suit the needs of the patient.
I first experienced hypnotherapy many years ago to help with a phobia. After 4 or 5 sessions my life changed dramatically and I was able to overcome my difficulties. I found the therapy so relaxing and the changes were rapid. I continue to use the techniques I learned, such as self-hypnosis, in my every day life. I was looking to change my career at the time and so attending a 4 week CPPD course in Clinical Hypnosis and have never looked back.
I am now a dedicated and qualified practitioner in Clinical Hypnotherapy. I completed my training at The London College of Clinical Hypnosis, one of the leading providers of hypnotherapy training, where I received my Post Graduate Certificate awarded by the University of West London. Much of my training has been directed from the school of Psychotherapeutic Studies. This means I am able to draw from many approaches to therapy such as Cognitive, Behavioural and Psycho-analytical, NLP and Mindfulness. I do not use one size fits all approach but rather tailor sessions to meet the needs of the client and best approaches according to the issue I am working with.
I am a registered associate member of The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and bound by their code of conduct and ethical principals. You can be assured you will receive a professional, high standard of care in a safe and supportive environment. As a member of the BSCH I am committed to continued personal and professional development. I regularly attend masterclass workshops and CPPD training courses.
I understand that hypnotherapy and the use of hypnosis may be unchartered waters for many of you, therefore I offer a free telephone or Skype consultation. During the consultation I will answer any questions and discuss the presenting problem and how hypnotherapy can help. Afterwards, of course, there will be no obligation to book further appointments.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy involves the use of hypnosis in conjunction with psychotherapeutic approaches in order to bring about changes in behaviour, feelings, thoughts and sensations. Hypnosis can be described as a state somewhere between being awake and being asleep. It is a safe and gentle process, achieving a state of deep relaxation. In this relaxed state, the mind is usually more open to the process of change.
Hypnotherapy can be applied to a wide range of medical and psychological problems. It is especially effective in
- reducing anxiety and stress
- eliminating panic attacks
- boosting confidence and self-esteem
- reducing fears and phobias
- eliminating unwanted habits such as smoking or over eating
- the relief of IBS symptoms
- reduction of pain
Hypnotherapy is recognised by the British Medical Association and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence as an effective therapeutic approach to many issues.
Smoking is bad for you. You know it is, so why does the idea of giving up seem so hard? Because smoking is a habit and addictive.
So how can hypnotherapy help? I can help you to quit smoking through positive suggestions linked to your desire to quit by associating your problem times with having no desire to smoke. These suggestions break the old unconscious associations you have with smoking, they reprogramme you, if you like.
The habit of smoking is a behaviour, which is to a large extent controlled by the way we think. The most effective way of trying to change maladaptive behaviour is to change the thinking which lies beneath it.
During the session I will encourage, support and inspire the development of this new thinking. I will take a complete case history, asking questions to allow me to fully understand your smoking habit. From your answers, the session will be tailored personally to suit your needs.
My support does not stop there. It will continue once you've left the therapy rooms. I will teach you self hypnosis and I offer a free follow up session for those who may be struggling.
If you know you are ready to quit then please contact me and take the first step towards committing to a smoke free life!
The session usually lasts 2 hours and will cost £150
