About me

Hello, my name is Mike Webb and I have a genuine and professional desire to help people resolve their unwanted challenges. My aim is to empower clients with the emphasis on self management as soon as possible and for future prevention, so with my guidance they don't become dependent on me longer than necessary.

We are all unique individuals and we view the world and deal with life's challenges in many different ways. At times we need appropriate support to get back in control of our emotions and move forward again in a positive way.

I was an orphan at 13 years of age and no siblings and educated myself later in life. I went to university the first time at the age of 27, followed that up with a second degree 6 years later. A step parent to 2 small boys for 15 years and during this time I was made redundant, with 3 children and a large mortgage, then later divorced. Lost my best friend to cancer at just 29 years of age. Watched my business go under and had to start again and now I've been a single parent for the last 11 years. So I have some understanding of the challenges people face and I use my empathy to help and supports others.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Clinical Hypnosis is a lovely positive experience. It helps your conscious mind become deeply relaxed so that your unconscious mind can if necessary accept pre-agreed, positive suggestions to bring about the required change that you want or need. It is in no way used to control you or make you do things you would not be comfortable with and it is only used for therapeutic purposes. This can bring about a lasting change in your perception of a situation, or in an unwanted behaviour. This deeply relaxed state is also called the trance state. It resembles sleep, but is different in that you can actually be very alert during hypnosis and you will maintain control throughout the treatment.

What to Expect

The aim of Hypnosis is to teach you to use your mind and thoughts to manage physical or emotional difficulties, or to change a habit or behaviour that is causing you concern. My psychology training has given me a good understanding of the clinical nature of Hypnotherapy which addresses aspects of a person’s physical health, mental and emotional state in a safe, calm and therapeutic way. Although it works with your mind, its effects are felt in many physical ways too, making it effective either as a stand- alone support with other psychological tools or to complement conventional medical treatments. With the assistance of a skilled hypnotherapist it’s possible to use the hypnotic state to make deep and lasting changes to the way you live your life.  Working in conjunction with more traditional therapies, I believe that hypnotherapy as an integrative therapy has an important part to play in achieving well-being.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Hypnotherapist and a member of The Hypnotherapy Society, having been in private practice since 2009. I have also been in private practice as a Chartered Physiotherapist for over 28 years and a qualified teacher. Therefore I have significant experience in helping to support people in a holistic way.

When I worked in rehabilitation many years ago I realised I was often counselling and coaching people who had severe traumatic accidents. This prompted me to go back to university and I completed an honours degree in Psychology followed up by a Masters degree in Stress Management.

With three boys and a busy practice I eventually added to my qualifications such as Health Promotion, NLP, Life Coaching, CBT, Transactional Analysis, Emotional Intelligence and Thought Field Therapy. These tools give me an eclectic ability to support clients needs. Not only do I help members of the public but offer corporate support as well.

The initial Assessment - £65. This often takes 60 to 90 minutes and is not to be rushed. Information is gathered and if appropriate you will be able to experience hypnosis. This enables me to assess how I can help you to move forward and to adjust your thoughts, feelings (emotions) and behaviour to how you want to be and meet your personal needs, aims and goals. This also gives us both time to get to know each other and decide if we are happy to work together.

All additional appointments are £50.

Treatment varies from each individual depending on the issues being addressed, most issues can be dealt with within 4 to 6 sessions. You will always remain in control with respect and in total confidence.

I provide support and help between session if needs be (and after the course of treatment) e.g. if you are having a panic attack and need immediate support, this has been valuable to some clients in the past, to aid confidence and encourage you to believe in yourself again! This arrangement will be discussed on the initial consultation.

I provide personal C.D.s for my clients, this often becomes part of their homework before the next session and reinforces the work we have done together.
