About me

My name is Michelle and I help people take back control of their life.  I specialize in treating IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and other anxiety related issues such as fears, phobias, unhelpful habits and sleep issues.  I treat a wide range of issues and you are invited to visit my website to find out more.

I am based in Well, Near Bedale North Yorkshire which has easy access to the A1, the Yorkshire Dales and the surrounding towns and villages such as Ripon, Northallerton, Richmond, Thirsk and Harrogate.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am client centered and use a variety of techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Processing (NLP), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and  Intensive Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT)  dependent on the issue concerned.

Specialist Areas:    Depression and Irritable  Bowel Syndrome

I have additional specialised training  to help people  suffering with depression.  Following an initial consultation,  I offer a 12 week course* which develops:

  • coping skills
  • effective relationships and support networks
  • social skills
  • problem solving skills
  • realistic and acheivable goals
  • assertiveness

In addition, the course addresses negative and de-motivating thoughts and expectations.

I have specialised training in Gut Specific & Gut Directed Protocol hypnotherapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. This is a recognised and recommended course of treatment by NICE as being suitable for IBS sufferers. Prior GP diagnosis is a mandatory requirement before treatment.

I run a local support group with the IBS Network (www.ibsnetwork.org) which meets on the FIRST WEDNESDAY OF EVERY MONTH at Sycamore Hall Care Home, Kearsley Road, Ripon.  The group provides support and tips to help you.  It is available for anyone who is has been diagnosed with IBS and all ages are welcome.  For more information please contact the IBS Network  ( www.ibsnetwork.org )

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

I help people with emotional eating issues in addition to selective eating, food phobias and anxiety relating to new foods.

Hypnotherapy is a deeply personal process and it is important to me, that my clients feel comfortable discussing their issues.

Consequently, the first consultation is therefore longer than a standard session. It takes approximately 1-2 hours which is charged at £60 per hour.  This addition time allows us to meet and chat about any concerns you may have and to experience hypnosis. This time is useful to find out the nature of your issue, your needs and expectations. I will ask questions relating to your general health and background history and address any issues you may have relating to hypnotherapy.

Off Peak:      Weekday appointments from 9.30am to 4.30pm          £60 per hour

Peak:          Weekday appointments at 8.00am  or 5.30pm              £75 per hour

You can contact the hypnotherapist to discuss the options available.
