Choosing the right hypnotherapist

Always choose a Professional Hypnotherapist that is Qualified, Supervised, Insured and subject to a Code of Ethics and being registered with The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) guarantees these important factors for you.

The National Health Service specifically advises that when looking for a private hypnotherapist that you check they’re registered with an organisation that’s accredited by the Professional Standards Authority such as those I mention above CNHC.

I have achieved the highly respected status of Registered Hypnotherapist within The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and I am able to provide copies of certificates if required.

Member organisations

CNHC
Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

  • Menopause related symtoms
  • Come to terms with grief
  • Improve Performance
  • Conquer Insomnia
  • Depression and low mood

Why choose hypnotherapy?

Everyone wants to be the best they can be but sometimes our negative inner chatter can get in the way or our emotions get the better of us, preventing us from being able to move forward with our lives, and hampering our relationships and performance.

There are times that undesirable behaviours becomes so ingrained that it is impossible to see how to change them. Bad habits form or self-sabotage becomes a way of life. Hypnotherapy is simple, accessible and has proven to be effective.

What happens during a hypnotherapy session?

First, we will have an informal free telephone conversation to establish expectations and to ensure that our therapist-client relationship is a good fit, to enable effective therapy. Once this has been determined we will book in a face to face consultation where your goals will be defined and an action plan put into place, along with our first session of hypnosis. A set of tools will also be provided which you can take away with you to reinforce the change that is taking place.

You are the most important part of your change process and I work with you 100% to get you to where you want to be.

I care passionately about the work I do, the people I work with get results. Contact me. You may find that it's the best thing you ever did.

Overcoming interview-based anxiety

I went to see Meera as I had an important interview coming up and was concerned that nerves and anxiety would get in the way of me being able to perform at my best. I arrived at the session feeling a bit unsure of what to expect but Meera immediately made me feel comfortable with her warm manner and welcoming smile. The environment was calm and relaxing which meant the focus could be on the treatment and getting the most out of the consultation. The first part was designed to get to the route of the issue and Meera very quickly captured the essence of what was needed to help me overcome my concerns. We then moved to the hypnotherapy section which was very soothing and conducted in a very professional experienced way. I would recommend Meera to anyone seeking this kind of therapy as she was wonderful and I got the job!! Clare Harris - Berkshire

Stopping smoking for good

Thank you for all you have done for me. You have helped me so much. I originally came to you to stop smoking and during my induction with you it was noticed by yourself there was a problem underlying, you advised me this was to be addressed before we worked on the smoking issue. I agreed and since our session to combat this I have overcome this problem. We moved to the original smoking issue and you have once again succeeded in addressing my issue. You are a genuinely sincere person. I am amazed at how much you have changed my life. Thank you so much. Tina C - Denham

Overcoming anxiety and panic attacks

What pushed me to start working with Meera was the frequent panic attacks. I wasn’t a fan of the whole idea of therapy, in all honesty I thought it was a load of rubbish and couldn’t stand the idea of talking to a stranger about my very personal issues and something that only my close family knew about. Despite my original reservations, the process was really good and eventually very rewarding.

I am calm and collected and feel a lot more confident with my exams due to changes in my revision, due to the help from you. The anxiety attacks are very, very few and far between. I feel 10 times more comfortable talking about my anxiety and my issues and now also have a series of coping mechanisms which if I were to have any more issues, I can deal with myself.

It’s been an amazing process and I can’t thank you enough for the wonders that you have worked in my life and I honestly can say you have changed my life in the best way possible. RJ - Maidenhead

Suffering from alcohol issues

I went to see Meera not knowing what to expect as I had never met or knew anything about her (the appointment had been arranged by my wife and daughter) about my issues with alcohol misuse. I arrived at the session feeling a bit unsure of what to expect but Meera immediately made me feel comfortable with her warm manner and welcoming smile. She stressed that I must want to do this for myself for my own betterment.

She recommended that I have 3 sessions, and after the first, I honestly have to say I had doubts whether this was going to be the miracle cure I was hoping for. After the second session however, it seemed to me that my focus and belief in myself strengthened and after the final session, I am now determined to keep on the right track with her continuing support (I received taped messages of my sessions).

PS I don’t normally write recommendations but I feel that if anybody is suffering from any issues affecting themselves or their families that they consult Meera. You won’t regret it, what have you got to lose! GB - London

Fear of vomiting

I had a serious phobia of vomit and it had escalated to the point of me having panic attacks whenever I would feel slightly sick or if anyone felt or looked sick around me. It was an amazing, life changing experience and would recommend Meera to anyone. You are a kind, caring lady and you're amazing at what you do, very professional. I am now in general much less anxious and feel I can tackle being sick if I need to or being around others who are sick. ODH - Buckinghamshire

Death anxiety - fear of dying

My situation before we worked together was that I had severe anxiety around the thought of my death and had numerous anxiety attacks where I would think about my life ending. These attacks would be around thoughts about what would happen after I die and I felt very helpless and alone in these concerns. My existing anxiety would focus these thoughts on there being nothing after death and it was almost like a cloud of fear that there would be eternal nothingness, which I found hard to comprehend.

The best results I have had is firstly feeling less alone in my struggle and also feeling validated by you. I also grew to learn that my condition and feelings around this were not necessarily my fault, and that they were subconscious dialogues that had built up through various situations and events. I think after each session I would feel on a high and surprised at how creative my subconscious mind could be. I feel that having recordings to go back to gave me a feeling of security and a knowingness that I can reach out to something tangible that can help me. KM – London

Regaining confidence

I had issues with interacting with people in social circles due to a lack of confidence to engage with new people. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to express the issues I was experiencing with someone else, but I was greeted with a warm welcome upon my arrival. Throughout the session I felt more comfortable sharing and expressing my issues with Meera and any reservations I may previously have had about the session quickly diminished. My confidence has noticeably increased. I voice my opinions more in conversations without feeling uncomfortable. DR – Maidenhead

Improving self-esteem and managing anxiety

My situation before I started working with you was my anxiety when doing an activity where I feel some sort of pressure or someone’s watching me. As soon as I stepped into the cabin I felt comfortable and at ease. You made me feel like I could express all my thoughts and was not judged or laughed at. I just really felt like I could open up about my problems and felt you really wanted to and could help me. The best result I've gotten from my experience with you is believing in myself more and to look at situations I have previously found negatives into more of a positive. KC - Berkshire

Weight loss - Overeating

I have done "you name it I've tried it diets" over 46 years (yes I was only 11 when I went on my first proper calorie counting diet). As a consequence of going on and achieving goal weight several times only to put it all back on with interest. On these numerous diets, I have gained quite a lot of knowledge but you have still surprised me and I have had some personal revelations. I have only addressed in the past the resulting weight not the cause of overeating. This is new thinking. Also I realised last week that I hold some negative views that I was not aware of, e.g. that I only feel myself as a bigger person and that to control your weight means becoming obsessed with food. That is quite a result from only 2 sessions. LM - Maidenhead

Weight loss - Habitual eating

It has been very interesting and I have found that I am thinking of what I am eating. I am definitely eating smaller portions – and less snacking. The evenings and activities have been fun and I have found that I am thinking a lot more on positive affirmations and trying to stay positive around the food I eat and THE lumps and bumps I sometimes see whilst changing.

Most interesting fact is finding out I am a habitual eater and I also realise I say to the kids – finish your food. I have now stopped saying to him that he hasn’t finished what’s on his plate. I have made an effort to do this so he doesn’t feel he is a habitual eater too! JR – Berkshire

Weight loss - Emotional eating

I enjoyed the session and felt it gave me a good understanding of what to eat. I have left food on my plate and thought more about when I’m hungry and stopped myself from emotional eating, the clenched fists also keep making me think about portion size too. EW - Berkshire

Behavioural change

Meera is more than just a hypnotist, she can help you understand and change your behaviour. She genuinely cares and wants to improve people's lives using the different tools and techniques she has learnt. Meera is an exceptionally talented and caring, specialist in behavioural change. LM
