About me

As a fully qualified and successful hypnotherapist, over many years, I have helped my clients overcome emotional problems and improve the quality of their lives. I am committed to providing my clients with complete confidentiality, being non-judgemental and professional at all times. I specialise in the following:

Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Worry, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD),Panic Attacks, Fears and Phobias, Smoking Cessation.

Hypnotherapy treatments are very relaxing and calming experiences. Clients simply relax and are induced into the hypnotic state so that therapy can take place and be effective.

Each client has different needs so I work with my clients as individuals providing consultations that are tailored to their personal circumstances.

Anxiety is very common. It will affect most people at some point during the course of their lives. An anxiety sufferer may feel overwhelmed, worried, stressed, negative and fearful about their future. Anxiety may cause sufferers to imagine problems that do not really exist. For example, sometimes feelings of fear can become irrationally  associated with things, places, and situations.Anxiety, unless treated, can significantly reduce the quality of a persons life.

Hypnotherapy can help overcome anxiety by changing the clients emotional reactions and thought processes in a positive way.

Hypnotherapy is a complimentary treatment which can be utilised along with conventional medical help.

A person in a state of depression may feel that all the joy has gone out of life. They may see everything as beginning extremely difficult and of little value. Aspects of life that once seemed exciting or important can seem to have become boring and insignificant.

Hypnotherapy can bring back positive feelings, enabling clients to overcome depression. However if someone is suffering sever depression I recommend that they consult their GP.

Stress is felt when a person is faced with a situation that they believe they do not have the necessary resources to cope with. This may be in terms of both their mental and physical resources. Whether or not the person's resources are adequate, becoming stresses will not help as it is more difficult to think clearly when stressed. After overcome stress clients may discover that they do have more resources than they realised when they were in a stressful state.

The key to overcoming stress is learning how to use cognitive strategies to reduce the emotional impact of stressful situations. Hypnotherapy can help achieve this, as it facilitates a change process at the subconscious level. Along with hypnotherapy I also teach my client's cognitive stress reduction techniques.

Worry is constant ruminating on negative outcomes. The sufferer feels unable to prevent themselves from having negative thoughts and feelings, even when they know that the thoughts and feelings are unnecessary. Worrying is an extremely ineffective way to address any problem. It takes up time and energy, giving no benefit at all to the worrier.

Hypnotherapy is a psychological intervention designed to break the worry cycle,  thereby freeing the client from negative ruminating.

Because everyone is unique consultations are carefully adapted to the worry cycle of the individual client.

OCD sufferers find themselves doing compulsive actions or thinking obsessive thoughts, they may perform rituals or repeat some words or thoughts over and over again. They often feel very strongly that if they do not do these things something terrible will happen. OCD does not only have a detrimental impact on the sufferer themselves but also on their family and friends. Of course OCD makes it very hard for the sufferer to make new friends or form relationships. In therapy my clients are encouraged to use strategies to drastically reduce the OCD so it no longer interferes with their life.

A panic attack can be described as an escalating response, where the mind wrongly perceives a threat and produces an inappropriate physical reaction. Often this response includes increased heart rate, sweating and trembling. When sufferers experience these physical reactions their minds are further convinced that something is wrong. This causes the symptoms to escalate.

Hypnotherapy can change the way people respond to situations. This is how hypnotherapy can help to prevent panic attracts form occurring in the first instance, and control them if they do occur.

Nearly all fears and phobias, no matter how strange or unusual they may seem, can be overcome using hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy works on the subconscious mind to resolve irrational fears and phobias. I am happy to discuss any concerns clients may have with fears and phobias fully over the telephone prior to any consultation.

I provide hypnotherapy for smoking cessation. My aim is to turn my clients into non-smokers in one session. A hypnotherapy treatment can make stopping easier by helping clients to relax naturally and increasing their determination to quit. Through hypnotherapy my clients can learn to respond to the idea of smoking appropriately, seeing it as the harmful self-destructive process that it really is.

I only provide smoking cessation hypnotherapy for tobacco products.

Smoking cessation treatments with me take one hour and cost £50.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

A note on mindfulness.

Mindfulness is all about being in the present moment. All our lives are made up of an ever repeating sequence of present moments, the moment now. Most people have their thoughts wrapped up with either the future or the past. Missing the present moment loses a chance of true understanding and change. A very important aspect of mindfulness is mental balance. Being able to be in, and focused on the present moment is important for exceptionally good mental health. However also is being able to plan for the future and make sense of the past.

All sessions are for one hour and cost £50.

The initial telephone consultation is free of charge.
