My clients: I work with people with a very wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress and overload, addictions, panic attacks, phobias, PTSD, poor self-esteem and lack of confidence. I am also trained to do gastric band hypnotherapy which may be the option clients choose for weight loss or it may be they want help to change their relationship and attitude towards food.
I work with each of my clients to set achievable and realistic goals continuing at a pace which suits them; helping them to feel better and take back control of their lives. Some clients come to me with one small issue with which they want help and others come with complex and long standing difficulties.
Each client I see is treated with the utmost dignity and respect and, with the wide range of therapeutic tools I have available, I do all that I can to get their lives back on track.
I am a Human Givens therapist. Human Givens is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. To find out more about Human Givens go to their website: www.hgi.org.uk.
How long it takes: Everyone’s situation is different, but I aim to take as few sessions as possible. Often people need no more than two to four sessions to make significant progress and lasting improvements; sometimes fewer. It is often the case that if a client comes to see me more than 2 or 3 times then the intervals between sessions tend to get a little longer, so it's not a case of having to book 6 weekly sessions in one go.
Client with a flying phobia ‘I'm almost in tears of happiness at how in control of my fears I've been able to be on the two flights I've taken in the last few days (have just got back and I'm writing this from the airport). Thank you so much for all your help!’ July 2014
Client wishing to give up smoking 'people cannot believe the change in my lifestyle, and still cannot believe I don't smoke! Thank you for all your help, you're simply marvellous.' October 2014 (after 1 therapy session)
Client with anxiety 'Maggie is a wonderful, kind and very professional woman, for whom I will be eternally grateful. She helped me conquer anxiety and major panic attacks, I thought I would never feel normal again. So thank you :-)' December 2014 (after 4 therapy sessions)
Client with anxiety particularly with regards to illness 'Maggie, I would rate your service as 10 out of 10. The sessions I had with you have helped me more than I thought possible; Thank you' August 2015 (after 5 therapy sessions)
Client with low self esteem, low self confidence, anxiety, outbursts of anger and negative thoughts 'Your therapy sessions have transformed me in ways I never thought were possible.' December 2014 (after 7 sessions)
Client with insomnia the sessions 'were very useful, addressing the underlying problems that caused the main issue. Felt immediate improvements on my life. Maggie Bromage was a great listener, sensitive and intelligent therapist' January 2017 (after two sessions)
High achieving client with low self esteem and fear of failure 'Thank you for your support, Maggie – you helped at a very deep level. By recognising the ways in which I was getting in my own way, and giving me tools to address the specific obstacles I created for myself, you helped me over a difficult time and enabled me to move forward into an unknown and precarious future with confidence and hope.' June 2017 (after 7 sessions)
Client with underlying feelings of anxiety 'I'm still feeling good and have had no anxiety symptoms at all. I know this doesn't necessarily mean they're gone forever (though fingers crossed!) but I feel like I'm equipped to handle them if they return.' January 2019 (after 3 sessions)
Client wishing to cut down on drinking and quit smoking 'I am no longer smoking, drinking less and my mind is much clearer. November 2018 (after 4 sessions)

BSc (Hons) Psychology
HG.DipP Qualified Human Givens Practitioner
MBPsS Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society
MHGI Member of the Human Givens Institute
GQHP General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice
I am a Senior Associate of the Royal Society of Medicine
I also provide therapy to clients with PTSD through a charity called PTSD Resolution who work with ex-servicemen and women
I worked for 2 years in Canary Wharf where my clients were both workers in the banks and businesses there and residents of the surrounding areas. In my therapy room near Old Street, with it's good transport links, I continue to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and issues.
For almost 10 years, until 2013, I worked as Chief Executive of a charity supporting unpaid carers who were looking after their sick and disabled relatives. As such I have a wealth of knowledge about carers and the stresses they are under, which are often compounded by having to juggle work and caring. I gained the Human Givens Diploma whilst I was working there and was able to develop the counselling/psychotherapy service within the charity.
Previously I managed a charity working with young families often where a parent had severe depression. I am experienced in working with people from a very wide range of backgrounds and ethnicities.
Many years ago I trained as an electro-encephalography technician (EEG is used as a diagnostic test for epilepsy and other physiological brain disorders)
The General Hypnotherapy Register
Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).
Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.
All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.
