About me

About Me:
For many years I was a teacher working with children and families with Special Educational Needs. During this time I gained a huge amount of experience of children with all sorts of needs, particularly Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. I found that teaching children techniques and strategies to help them stay calm in difficult situations could make a significant difference to their confidence, self-esteem and subsequently their behaviour.

I trained as a Hypnotherapist and Life Coach in order to use these skills further, to help children, families and adults cope better and learn to achieve their full potential. I was also a member of the British Competition Climbing Team for a number of years and experienced first-hand how important mental preparation is alongside the physical aspects. I now offer hypnotherapy and life coaching for individuals and families.

How can Hypnotherapy help you?
I specialise in:

  • Confidence and performance
  • Anxiety, panic and phobias
  • Children's issues
  • Habits
  • Sleep problems
  • Pain and chronic illness management

What to expect from sessions:
I offer sessions tailored specifically to your needs. Before the Initial Assessment session, I ask you to complete a short assessment form; this gives me more of an idea of what problems you are experiencing, and what you would like help with. This enables us to set goals together, that are specific to you and will enable you to achieve exactly what you want to achieve.

I work in a very forward-looking way (a solution-focussed approach). This means that you decide what changes you want to make, and together we make a plan to help you get where you want to be. This may sometimes involve some work to help you to resolve issues from your past, in order to help you move forwards. The sessions involve a combination of NLP techniques (making changes on a more conscious level) backed up by hypnotherapy techniques (utilising your subconscious mind to support you to make changes).

What I expect from you in between sessions:
By committing to sessions with me, you are committing to make changes in your life. I set tasks to be carried out by you in between sessions, in order for you to transfer the benefits of the work undertaken within sessions to all aspects of your life. This is the key to really making those changes you want to make.

Children and families:
I specialise in working with children and adolescents; I can also offer Family Coaching sessions via Skype in order for parents to best support their children.

For individual hypnotherapy sessions, parents/ carers are welcome to either stay in the treatment room or sit in the waiting room next door. This is by agreement with both parent/carer and child. Where the parent/ carer is not present in the room, the session is recorded in line with recommendation from the General Hypnotherapy Register.

Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.
