About me

What would you like to lead a happier and more fulfilling life?  Perhaps feel less anxious or stressed, adopt a healthier lifestyle, change habits, overcome phobias or trauma, reduce pain or maximise your personal performance.  Whatever your goal I would be delighted to help you.

I have been helping clients achieve their goals for over 10 years.

In 2023 I was delighted to be awarded Hypnosis Business of the Year by peers from all over the world.  Additionally in both 2018 and 2019 I was awarded Holistic Practitioner of the year at the Voice Awards where local people that I had helped voted for me.

I specialise in helping alleviate anxiety and stress, removing trauma or phobias, improving general health and wellbeing (including achieving healthy weight and lifestyle changes).  However, there are many other conditions which I also treat - please see my website for further details.

I am CNHC registered for both Hypnotherapy and Reiki which demonstrates my commitment to providing a high quality service and commitment to professional development.  Doctors use the CNHC register when recommending complementary practitioners.

My holistic approach uses a variety of complementary therapies in addition to talking therapy:

Hypnotherapy

Healing - I am a Reiki Master & Teacher, Spiritual Healer, Maori Healer & Crystal Healer

EFT - Tapping

Spirit Release Therapy

Past Life Regression

Helping you to make the changes that you need and want in your life:

In today's world most people face pressures and challenges everyday. Whilst we all need some pressure in our lives and we can indeed thrive under pressure sometimes the balance becomes out of sync leading to problems such as:-

  • anxiety/stress/low mood
  • insomnia
  • panic attacks
  • palpitations
  • digestion problems
  • eating disorders
  • phobias

I also help people to maximise their personal performance e.g. increase confidence in themselves, making effective presentations, overcoming exam nerves, sports performance etc..

Below is some information on Hypnotherapy - my website contains further information should you wish to find out more (the link to my website is in the personal details box above).

How can hypnotherapy help and how does it work?

Hypnotherapy is now recognised as one of the most effective ways to make positive changes that you need in your life.  The NHS recognises it as a complementary therapy and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has recently recognised hypnotherapy as a treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in those who haven't responded to other treatments.

It works quite simply by you relaxing sufficiently to allow the hypnotherapist to make suggestions, which you have agreed with, to your subconscious mind which is far more powerful than your conscious mind.  You are in control at all times and will be fully aware of everything that is said to you and of your surroundings.

Other approaches which may also be used in addition to hypnotherapy includes:-

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT - also known as Tapping) which is an ancient healing technique, used for the relief and removal  of trauma, phobias, grief, anger, pain etc.. It involves the client tapping certain parts of their body to ensure any blockages in the body's energy flow (based on Chinese medicine's meridian points) are removed.

Reiki/Spiritual Healing which is a natural energy therapy that complements conventional medicine by treating the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Healers act as a conduit for transferring healing ‘universal’ energy to the person who needs it and the benefits can be felt on many levels – physical, mental and emotional. No faith is required and it is suitable for most people including children and animals.

How many sessions are required
With the exception of smoking cessation which normally requires only two sessions (most clients give up on the first session but some prefer to cut down in week one and give up in week two) the number of hypnotherapy treatment sessions required will vary dependent upon each client's needs.  At the first session, based on the assessment made, I will provide you with an indication of the length of the treatment anticipated.

The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Further information

My background
I first experienced hypnotherapy over 20 years ago to help me deal with a traumatic life event and I have used it since both personally and professionally to help me overcome subsequent challenging issues and achieve my desired goals. Having spent over 20 years in financial management and lecturing roles I decided that I wanted to change direction and help people to overcome their issues and achieve their goals just as I had been helped many years before.

8 years ago I trained on a one to one basis with Dr Lyn Bateman, who has over 38 years experience of treating patients using hypnotherapy.  I qualified as an Advanced Hypnotherapy Practitioner and subsequently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical and Medical Hypnosis. Additionally I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Skills at the University of South Wales and most recently I have studied Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) at Cardiff University.
