I'm an experienced cognitive hypnotherapist and master NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) practitioner as well as a fully qualified personal trainer. I bring all of these skills together to offer individually tailored programmes for both mind and body. I have a warm, open and down-to-earth approach and draw from my varied experience and training to find the best way to support you to achieve your goals, whether these relate to physical health, mental wellbeing or both.
I completed my hypnotherapy training at the Quest Institute and am a member of the national council of hypnotherapy (NCH) and the QCHPA. I have also been working as a personal trainer for the last 7 years. In this time, I have to come to understand that our minds and bodies are one and the same and that to improve either physical or emotional health requires using techniques that bring the two together.
We can’t improve our mental health without addressing our physical health and vice versa. For these reasons I use a holistic approach when working with my clients as I have found this to be most effective in helping them reach their goals and ensuring they get the most out of our sessions
With cognitive hypnotherapy, I help clients dive into their unconscious mind to reframe negative beliefs, behaviours and getting them in a place they most want to be mentally by inducing a light trance. Unlike traditional talking therapy, cognitive hypnotherapy focuses on finding solutions to a problem. If a client comes with an issue I will be looking to see where it started, how is the client behaving differently while she/he is experiencing the problem, revealing the pattern of the problem and how she/he would like to act instead. The techniques that I am using allows me to take the client back to where the problem started and reframe the way he/she once saw the event where the negative pattern was acquired. By using techniques such as "timeline", EMI, EFT, Rewind etc. I can help clients deal with negative emotions and other difficulties that might arise. Using word weave and other techniques such as positive timeline or future pace and many others we will be able to choose a new way of being and seeing the world. Imagine the brain like a computer that uses programs to navigate you through life, all the programs are installed at a certain point in life, usually at a young age. If the program doesn't work properly you'll experience discomfort/negative emotions/unhelpful behaviour and so with cognitive hypnotherapy, we can update the old commands or install a new program.
I have first started as a personal trainer helping people with their fitness goals, realising later on, that the mind is as important when we are looking to better ourselves. I used cognitive hypnotherapy for my own good to get in a better place. We all have problems and things we struggle with, mine were anxiety, depression, negative beliefs/behaviours etc. I was experiencing a lot of discomfort in my everyday life and it just seemed impossible to get where I wanted to be. I took up boxing and done it at a very competitive level, this helped me reveal some of my fears/ insecurities feelings of not being good enough etc and I had to do something about them, this led me to hypnotherapy. I now use it to help other people that struggle like this.
This is what a few of my clients say:
Antonia - Law student
"Laur is very professional and supportive. I have been dealing with anxiety, insomnia and other mental health issues for years and our sessions really helped me. He is very carrying and always encouraged me to express myself and talk about the problems in order to create a plan that fits in with my needs. I immediately felt very comfortable in sharing information with him that I have kept to myself for years. I'm getting better every day and I am able to see results that I was not expecting at the beginning. He is the best and I would totally recommend him!"
Sally - Freelancer
"I embarked on CH with Laur to address some issues with motivation, diet and negative thinking. Laur was so diligent in his preparation and showed such warmth and acceptance that when the hypnotherapy started I felt completely relaxed and in good hands. The therapy itself was so amazing. It took me into rooms in my head that helped me better understand the person I am today. I'm still processing and learning from my sessions. It was a thoroughly positive experience".
Lauren - Designer
"In just a few sessions, Laur has connected with me and together we are identifying the source of my sleep difficulties and anxiety. We are using hypnotherapy to reach my unconscious as a way to reinterpret memories and feelings so I can reduce anxiety in everyday life situations and take steps to consciously take back control of my emotions when it all gets a bit much. Laur is kind, empathetic, supportive and really good at making you feel safe - highly recommended his services".
