About me

My name is Kerry, I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Telford, Shropshire.

The Leegate Centre in Telford is a beautiful old building with a long history.  It is based in Leegomery amidst woodland, allowing clients the opportunity to take time out after sessions to reflect or simply relax.

Sessions can still be arranged in Wellington if needed.

Online sessions are also available.

How Hypnotherapy Can Help

Hypnotherapy can be very effective with a vast range of issues from increasing motivation and concentration to managing anxiety and building confidence. The list is endless. Please note, that a hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything you don't want to do. Therefore, the client needs to have a desire to want to change for the better. I see a lot of clients wishing to build confidence and self-esteem and those with a desire to manage anxiety and improve their lives in general. Overcoming fears is also an area I have a great deal of experience and success in, but people come to me for a variety of reasons, including those who want to lose weight and feel motivated to lead a healthier lifestyle, along with smokers wishing to quit.

Particular Areas of Interest

I have a particular interest in stress and anxiety management and low self esteem along with fears and phobias. Having had very good results, I feel my combination of clinical hypnotherapy with CBT and other interventions such as NLP and mindfulness can provide effective outcomes. I am also passionate about encouraging people to live the life they would like and overcome barriers such as addiction, for example, through stopping smoking. I enjoy helping people to realise their true potential and see their abilities to create the life they want. This is something I find hugely rewarding.

I have a deep understanding of and am highly experienced in dealing with a wide range of issues. I am particularly focused on neuroscience and the neuroplasticity of the brain. Our brains remain malleable throughout our lives and this knowledge that we can change is something I'm passionate about.

What to Expect During Sessions

Contact me via telephone or email initially. We can even arrange a telephone consultation initially to decide on the best course of action and to answer any queries.

In each session we will discuss progress and desired outcomes and future sessions can be booked there and then if desired.

There is a comfortable reception area with friendly staff to welcome clients on arrival. The first session involves gathering information, both practical, such as contact details and health conditions along with exploring more in depth the issues that bring someone to my office. Information gathered is not shared with any third parties.

We will then begin with an introduction to hypnotherapy with the first session usually involving a general all round boost to lay the foundations for future sessions. All you need to do is sit back and relax. What happens during hypnotherapy is fully explained and any questions answered before we proceed. More information on this is available on my website.

My approach is person-centered, incorporating elements of compassion focused therapy and solutions focused therapy with clients. Offering cognitive techniques alongside hypnotherapy is something I believe will support the sub-conscious suggestions absorbed through hypnotherapy creating a solid foundation for successful outcomes. This also gives clients an active role in making changes so they can live the life they desire.

Other Information

Prior to Covid, I focused my time away from clinical practice on holding stress management for learning disabled adults in local day centres. I am a fully qualified adult educator with over 15 years experience teaching stress management. This understanding of the teaching and learning process gives me great insight into delivering engaging sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a diploma in clinical hypnotherapy and am registered with The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR), as holding a Senior Qualification in Hypnotherapy. This is the UK’s largest professional hypnotherapy register for practicing hypnotherapists. I am also a long standing member of The Federation of Holistic Therapists.

As well as offering Clinical Hypnotherapy, I am educated in counselling skills and also CBT through The University of Birmingham. I use these skills to assist clients in managing any issues and stress that everyday life brings. This combined with being a qualified Neuro Linguistic Programmer allows me to create tailored solutions for the needs of the individual.

I also hold a diploma in nutrition, which gives me a good understanding of helping clients seeking weight management interventions and allows me to offer practical and realistic support and advice.

  • Diploma: NLP

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Midland Therapy Services have worked closely with a dental practice helping nervous and dental phobic patients through every step of overcoming their fear. This unique opportunity gave me the experience to support patients wishing to face their fear to have support through each step, from visiting and chatting with an empathetic, friendly and supportive dental team to receiving dental treatment if they desire. Whilst I have now moved into my own office, this experience enables me to continue working with phobic patients along with bruxism (tooth grinding).

Please note - I do not use flooding techniques in any of my phobia treatments, I work gradually using graded exposure at a pace agreeable to each individual patient.

Additional information

  • Clinical hypnotherapy office based - £65 per hour.

During sessions we will discuss presenting issues and look at conscious ways to create change using NLP CBT and mindfulness techniques. The main focus of sessions will of course be hypnotherapy, but this time spent working on the conscious mind helps to build the foundations for the positive changes required subconsciously.

Time spent discussing issues and goals allows me to observe the language a client is using both consciously and subconsciously and helps in creating a tailored and effective course of treatment.

Please see my website for full information on our services and fees. To book an appointment or for any other enquiries, please contact me via email or on telephone number above.
