About me

Hello my name is Karen

I work with people of all ages from teenagers to adults to find peace with their emotions that may feel out of balance, connecting them to who they authentically are so that they can start to feel motivated therefore empowering them to move forward in the way they choose to. I cover a host of issues including Anxiety, Addictions, Phobias, Weight Loss, Exam Stress and a multitude of others, no matter what worries you let me try to help you.

I am a fully qualified clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner. I have over 30 years experience working within the NHS and the education system, I have encountered people from all walks of life some of whom, myself included have suffered from many of the issues of modern life such as stress, anxiety, phobias, addictions and weight problems and after receiving hypnotherapy myself I strongly believe that the "talking therapies" are the safest and most effective interventions for helping to treat milder emotionally driven problems and behaviours.

I am very passionate about hypnotherapy as I have seen excellent results for myself personally and for those I have treated. It is a quick effective therapy, tailored to suit you personally.

I offer a respectful and confidential service, using an individual approach with all clients.
Recognising that we are all unique, I use a variety of different techniques to be able to realise individuals' needs.

What happens in a hypnotherapy session?

When you attend your first session of hypnotherapy it’s natural to feel a bit nervous. But most people find after a few minutes they settle down while we have a chat about the issues they have come for help with. After the initial chat, we can start the hypnosis session and begin to resolve the presenting problem.

During hypnosis you don't go to sleep, you are not unconscious or having your mind taken over. You can just feel very relaxed to a level that feels right to you. In fact, you can get up and leave at any time if you want to. It’s such a pleasant experience though that this rarely happens. Everybody goes in and out of hypnosis several times a day, it’s a very natural state. You may recall a time when you have been absorbed in listening to music, or day dreaming, reading a book or even when you drive somewhere and at the destination can’t remember a lot of the journey. These are all hypnotic experiences and you may agree that there is nothing strange about those things when you experience them.

Hypnotherapy is not at all like stage hypnosis where people seem to be under the power of another person. Hypnotherapy is gentle, respectful and non controlling. You actually can not make anyone do anything against their moral or religious beliefs with hypnosis.
After the session it is safe to drive or do anything else you wish to do. There are no side effects other than a pleasant experience.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

I enjoy working with people of all ages including offering couples hypnotherapy sessions.

Working with teenagers and having raised two of my own I am particularly interested in helping during those sometime difficult Teenage Years:

Romance, sex, exams, social media, peer pressure, changing family relationships, new-found responsibilities … all in conjunction with the hormonal changes that adolescence brings – it’s no wonder that teenagers are under immense pressure.

Teenage stress manifests itself in so many ways:

  • Anger and irritability
  • Sulkiness or shyness
  • Increased or decreased appetite
  • Rudeness or bravado
  • Tearfulness
  • Self-harm
  • Depression

Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) can help teenagers to gain control of their lives, putting strategies in place for dealing with stressful trigger circumstances. With more than ten years’ experience of working with adolescents, I can help people of this age to feel more confident, and I can give them the necessary tools to use now and to take with them into adulthood.

My initial consultation is free.

Session charges are approximately 60 minutes and cost £50 ( this includes any materials I give you to work with at home)

Quit Smoking therapy approximately 90-120 minutes £120 (this includes any materials I give you to work with at home)

Gastric Band Hypnosis (3-4 session of approx 60 minutes each, plus materials that you can continue to work with at home) £200.

I offer NHS and Education staff members with a valid in date ID a 20% discount       (you must provide the ID at the first session and attend a minimum of 3 sessions)

Further information

When working with clients it is very important to me, that each client understands that I will only work with you if I feel that hypnotherapy is the right therapy for you. To achieve your goals, I will create a therapy plan tailored to your specific needs.

Your free initial consultation allows us to discuss your goals or the issues you wish to address, allows me to give you more information about what you can expect during our sessions, and give you an idea of how long your therapy may take. Should we both agree moving forward with hypnotherapy is right for you, I will be here to help you on that journey.

I run a private practice which offers free parking onsite and flexible opening hours. Please feel free to phone or email me with any questions.
