About me

Who am I? Hello, my name is Karen Dunnet. I am a fully qualified and experienced Clinical Hypnotherapist as well as a senior tutor with SFTA Preston and a supervisor.  My goal is to help people overcome their issues and live the life they want to live.

What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy? Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a very positive and forward looking therapy.  We focus on solutions not problems.  It is talking therapy that combines psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, based on the latest neuroscience and brain research.  We all have all the resources and strengths that we need to make positive changes to our lives but sometimes we need a little help to find them.

How Can I Help You?  We will work together to:

  • reduce anxiety and stress
  • build confidence
  • give you back conscious control
  • set achievable goals

I genuinely care about all my clients. My mission is to help YOU reach YOUR goals.

What to Expect in your First Session: The Initial Consultation lasts for 50 minutes and it is during this session that I would ask you for details of what is troubling you and what you would like to change. I then give you a simple explanation of how the brain works, with specific reference to your problem, and explain how trance can help you to achieve the changes you wish to make. I will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have throughout this session. The Initial Consultation will enable me to develop a personalised treatment plan for you.

What Happens Next? Subsequent sessions are 50 minutes long.  Each session uses solution focused techniques and hypnosis to help you move towards your goals. Everyone is different so it is hard to generalise about the number of sessions required but, on average, I see people for around 8 sessions.   There are a couple of exceptions to this: smoking cessation is a single, double length session and specific phobias can be treated in just 4 sessions.

My Latest Review:

'I can wholeheartedly recommend Karen to anyone who is looking for an alternative therapy that actually works and changes your life! Karen was so welcoming, warming and the relaxation practice was so soothing. I thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to my next session every week. Thank you Karen for guiding me in the right direction and showing me I can overcome any obstacle! I now have the confidence to move forward with all the helpful knowledge and understanding Karen has provided me with during our time together. Thank you again, and my pea pod will be a great daily reminder :)'
