Hi, my name is Juliette from Pondering Elephants. As a Cognitive Hypnotherapist, I combine the best of cutting edge, solution focused therapy with non-traditional, evidence-based hypnotherapy to help with a wide range of conditions. Ever thought ‘why did I behave like that, that’s not like me?’ Are you scared of something that seems ridiculous? Perhaps you think you are incapable in some areas and unable to change. Do you hear yourself saying ‘I can’t’ more times than is fashionable? But what if you really could learn to do things differently?
With Cognitive Hypnotherapy it’s entirely possible
It’s a great sign that you’re seeking a way forward, because often problems get heavier to bear the longer we hold on to them. Problems that may be solvable, with therapy that is tailored to you.
In relation to stress management, a great speaker once said: ‘Hold a glass of water for a minute, it’s easy, hold it for an hour, you will have an ache in your arm, hold it for a day – it’s time to call for help - the longer it’s held the heavier it becomes. If you recognise these feelings, I aim to help you turn these thoughts around, to teach you techniques that stop limiting thoughts in their tracks and transform who you think you are into the person you would like to be.
‘So drink the water, put down the glass, feel refreshed and realise you knew the solution all the time...’
If other therapies (including Hypnotherapy) have not helped, that is not a problem, As a Cognitive Hypnotherapist I have many tools in my toolbox and am trained to use your past experiences to help utilise what does work for you. With me there is no failure only feedback. I really believe you do have the potential within you to feel differently about a great many things. Building a rapport with my client is key to the success of my therapy, therefore I invite you to have a chat with me first, so you get a feeling of whether I am the right therapist for you. If you want more information about me, please visit my website at www.ponderingelephants.com and visit my ‘About Me’ page. Often my therapy is intriguing, definitely thought provoking, sometimes emotional and generally enjoyable. It may also be very relaxing and has been likened to a mind massage by my clients.
About Cognitive Hypnotherapy
Some Hypnotherapists work from a one size fits all set of scripts and though this may be helpful for some, I use words taken from your own language patterns, in a process known as ‘WordweavingTM’. This focuses on how your unconscious works best to accept suggestions made to it. When you have Cognitive Hypnotherapy, you can be rest assured that this is an evidence based form of Hypnotherapy (for further information visit http://www.emeraldinsight.com/doi/10.1108/MHRJ-08-2014-0030.
However it does rely on your willingness to practice techniques given to you and be open to new concepts. Cognitive Hypnotherapy uses techniques from a wide variety of therapies. I work with the pick of the bunch focusing on the very best techniques, often borrowing ideas from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestault, Positive Psychology, Cognitive Theory, NLP and Hypnosis, but only in areas that focus on helping you to become the agent of your own success. There is no one size fits all, every session is as individual as you are and we work together to find out what works best for you. The aim is to hand you the tools to change, use your own ideas to re-frame your challenges in a more positive light so that you no longer need therapy.
With you in mind
I am privileged to be a certified member of the NCH, QCHPA and CNHC which means I am fully regulated by bodies that ensure my work reaches the very best standards. Membership requires me to update my skills to give you the most cutting edge therapy whilst working to a strict code of ethics.
Training, qualifications & experience
I can’t express enough how important it is to find a qualified, fully registered and insured therapist.
When considering who to train with, I researched diligently and ensured I was trained by what I consider to be the best. I was taught directly with the founder of Cognitive Hypnotherapy and the creator of the ‘Wordweaving TM’ Technique, Trevor Silvester at the Prestigious Quest Institute based at Regents Park University. I received an HPD, Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy and am a Certified Practitioner of NLP.
I am also qualified as a Secondary School, Adult Education Teacher which gave me the skills to present workshops usually in anti-workplace bullying, confidence & relationship building. I can also adapt my skills to work with children.

“Having suffered with sleeping problems for years, I was somewhat sceptical regarding the cognitive hypnotherapy process. However, Juliette made me feel extremely at ease and the garden room studio had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Upon completion of the four sessions with Juliette, I feel I have been equipped with the necessary tools to assist me in continuing the process alone, my mindset has been altered for the better throughout the sessions with continued and noticeable improvements, not only with my sleep but also in my day to day life. If it is that for whatever reason I am not managing to sleep, I can now deal with it without getting stressed, which used to be a huge problem for me.
I can honestly say my hypnotherapy sessions have helped me enormously and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Juliette’s services.”
– Anne, 58, Nursery Nurse
“I had real problems with anxiety and suffered for many years thinking about what people thought about me. Juliette has helped me build my confidence with other people and I feel now that situations that used to make me scared now make me excited to challenge what I once thought impossible, I can’t believe I actively now seek out situations that once filled me with dread. I can’t express how much difference this has made to my life in work and in social gatherings I used to avoid.
I would therefore highly recommend Juliette, if you have a part of you, you want to change go and see her.”
– Catherine, 32, Receptionist
"“I have mindlessly and compulsively overeaten all my adult life. Just three sessions with Juliette, over six weeks, helped me understand why I overeat and truly believe that I no longer need to. I’m now able to better cope with the underlying feelings and make emotionally and physically healthier choices.”
