About me

Examples of problems:-
I have helped people with are exam nerves, fear of flying, driving anxiety, social anxiety (lack of confidence and self-esteem), public speaking, driving anxiety and work-related stress.

Dietary problems, pain control, IBS, insomnia and performance issues in both business and sports.

This is a limited list and much more information is available from the website. The CD Shop offers a good range of hypnosis and MP3 downloads (and CDs) to buy online.

Practitioner Training:- I run a twice-yearly (spring and autumn) full diploma hypnotherapy practitioner course, assessed and validated by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council GHSC) and leading to a qualification Dip. AH and ability to register with the GHR (General Hypnotherapy Register). The qualification also enables graduates to fast-track register with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council). A full prospectus is available from the website to download.

This course can be taken by those intending to practise professionally or who have a strong interest in this subject for use with family and friends and for personal information. For the professional attention is paid to marketing aspects and the use of websites in promoting their practice. I am uniquely qualified to advise on website design being professionally qualified as a Member of the British Computer Society and Chartered IT Professional with over 20 years' experience in technical and managerial roles in the financial services sector.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Some dental/medical conditions not mentioned can respond well (in conjunction with GP advice). No guarantee can be offered as regards results in this area and hypnotherapy should never be regarded as a "cure".  A small list of examples I have helped people deal with or alleviate.

  • "White-coat syndrome" e.g. high blood pressure preventing surgery.
  • Pre-surgery fears
  • Dentistry - gagging, fear of treatment, needle phobia, analgesia, accelerated healing
  • Excessive urge to urinate (a kind of toilet phobia). This can lead to a form of agoraphobia and avoidance of being in public in case the worst happens.
  • Oversensitive hearing - this can be misinterpreted as tinnitus.
  • Emetophobia - a fear of being sick or other people being sick.
  • Eczema

Note that alcohol abuse will only be considered where the prospective client is bingeing occasionally and is not chronically alcoholic for which medical treatment is recommended. OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is normally treated only where the condition is not severe where again a medical approach is better. The same advice applies for depression which can respond to hypnotherapy but severe chronic depression is contra-indicated.

In general where there is any doubt, especially in cases of mental disorders, the client's GP or psychiatrist should be consulted first and any intended treatment through hypnotherapy must be filtered by the medically qualified contact in the first instance.
