About me

I know that life is incredibly uncertain right now, and I'm here to reassure you that you can come through this greater than you began it. I can empower you to know that YOU are capable of being a rock for those around you, even if it feels like the opposite right now.

I am highly experienced at holding appointments, seminars and workshops online, and you'll find it much easier than you might suppose. Just find a room, close the door and we can talk as if you were at my studio. Changes can happen easily in this way and you'll leave the room feeling better, and better able to support others.

You are a Unique Individual

There is no one like you in the world. A lot of people come to me feeling they're wrong, or what they think and feel is wrong. Those same people leave our therapy feeling better about themselves and their lives knowing that they now have the tools and power to change anything that isn't working for them. Empowered where they were once frightened, decisive where they were once doubtful. Able to find solutions to what seemed the most insoluble problems.

How Does It Work?

Your unconscious mind is actually always trying to do its best to adjust and adapt to situations. The trouble is it doesn't always choose the best methods, and some of them are outdated. These can show up as symptoms and unwanted behaviours.

Once we create contact with this part of your unconscious mind and offer alternative choices and solutions then it's usually really happy to change.

What is Hypnosis Like?

Hypnosis is a respectful and gentle therapy. Even in situations that have been deeply troubling, perhaps traumatic,  there are really creative ways to lessen the impact and eradicate any unwanted symptoms.

Hypnosis is a process of relaxing or distracting your everyday mind so that we can communicate with deeper parts that are often responsible for creating symptoms. You may find that you're aware of behaviours but seem powerless to change them. That's because, just like your phone, there are parts of our personalities that behave just like 'apps' that have been switched on and are running in the background. Using hypnosis we can switch the apps off, or direct them towards another task.Meaning you can lose habits, behaviours and symptoms easily and without the kind of effort you might expect.

Why Choose Me As Your Hypnotherapist?

I am an award-winning hypnotherapist with a diploma certificate in hypnopschotherapy, meaning I'm trained to identify the root causes of issues, and change them quickly. I work hard at providing a safe and supportive space for you to explore what's bothering you. You may even find you enjoy your sessions and realise that you know far more about your issues than you thought!

I truly care about the progress you make, because of this you will have:

  • A personally targeted hypnotherapy recording to listen to between sessions to ensure you feel calm, confident and in control between sessions
  • Access to recordings of any hypnosis sessions we undertake in your own online designated area where I can share information such as pdfs, recordings and information around your treatment
  • Personality Exploration PDF to ensure you know how to motivate yourself and continue to make changes and apply the tools you've learned when we finish our work together
  • Working closely to goals and including these in everything we do. When you invite the future you'd like into sessions things can change quickly.

It's really important to me that the changes you experience are long-lasting. You'll find that when you leave, you feel really confident about overcoming everyday challenges. You will have a toolbox of techniques that will be specifically suited to you and you'll feel excited about using them independently.

You can be confident that I'm experienced at working with more complex emotional issues. Using a psychotherapeutic approach enables us to explore areas of deep pain and trauma. I always work hard at ensuring that you feel safe and supported when exploring these memories, knowing that we will always look for the easiest and most secure path through. Some of the approaches we will use include NLP, Family Systems and Behavioural Strategies and hypnotherapy of course.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Nutritional therapy can help enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting nutritional therapy or making any major changes to your diet or lifestyle.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

I offer a sensitive and bespoke service which can include hypnobirthing, birth coaching (whatever that needs to look like for you) and therapy for anyone who is  experiencing trauma, complications, distress around getting pregnant, being pregnant or giving birth.

If you've experienced the unthinkable in your life then pregnancy and birth is anything but simple. Going to someone who understands what you're going through and can support you every step of the way whilst keeping in mind your goal of a healthy baby, is transformative.

Some of the courageous people I've worked with:

  • survivors of sexual abuse
  • Survivors of mental, emotional and physical abuse
  • People who experienced PTSD after earlier birth experiences
  • Women (and men) who are terrified of birth and pregnancy (and would like to change it)
  • Women who feel that caesarian section is the only way out of their suffering but would like more choices
  • Parents who have lost a child (in utero or stillbirth) who would like to try again but don't know where they'll find the courage

Fees are £75 per session

We will always work to goals (and work at finding the most meaningful goal for you) and we have a short review process every four/five sessions to ensure we're keeping on track, and that the goal is still relevant to you.

Sessions may include homeplay, recordings to listen to and recordings of any hypnotic work we do in session. Also any supportive material. These are all stored in your own easily accessible online storage area.

Optional light-touch midweek check in is also included.

Further information

As well as being fully qualified and highly competent to work with a wide range of issues, in particular, I specialise in working with stress and anxiety, self-esteem, unwanted habitual thoughts and behaviours, weight loss, body image and addictions. I'm also a qualified teacher (though no longer practicing!) and I'm specifically trained and certified to work with children and young people.

In addition I am an experienced and fully qualified hypnobirthing practitioner with a particular interest in family mental health and post-natal depression in men and women. I offer  1-2-1 birth preparation classes to mothers and fathers who are experiencing significant distress or trauma around birth or indeed getting pregnant in the first place (tocophobia). What happened in childhood can suddenly reappear at these times and having a specialist hypnobirther and hypnotherapist who understands these issues is invaluable. Don't let the past spoil this life-changing time!

I have a range of appointments available at my therapy rooms in Manchester City Centre and Hebden Bridge, including weekday evenings.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a hypnotherapist's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the hypnotherapist to discuss the options available.
