About me

Hi, I am Helen Johnstone from In Mind Therapy.  Offering ONLINE appointments via Zoom and in person appointments under covid guidelines.

I specialise in working with anxiety, panic and trauma.

My main focus is helping teenagers and young people to navigate their increasingly pressurised lives.

I qualified as a clinical hypnotherapist in 2012 with one of the leading colleges in the country. I work with clients on a full-time basis and have continued my professional development over the years to include psychotherapy training that has given me numerous therapeutic tools to guide clients specifically with anxiety, pain and trauma-based issues.

My niche found me; teenagers started coming and with referrals, more came.

I am fully insured and follow a strict code of conduct and ethics.

In 2018 I decided to take a sabbatical from seeing clients to spend three months in India, where I qualified as a Yoga Teacher and expanded my knowledge of breathing and mindfulness techniques.  I am now back at work and seeing clients.

How I work

I currently offer online hypnotherapy sessions via Zoom and in person at my room in Hampshire whilst adhering to covid guidelines.

Appointments are flexible; daytime, evenings and Saturday mornings.

I am based in Chilbolton which is only 5 miles from Andover and 10 miles from Winchester. I have free parking at my premises.

All clients start with an initial conversation (lasting up to one hour depending on the issue) before proceeding to therapeutic work. This allows me to tailor therapeutic approaches that suit you and your issue and for you to be able to decide if you feel comfortable working with me.

Our initial conversation will enable me to understand YOU and what changes you would like to make.

I listen and enquire as you tell your 'story' and identify what is causing you to be stuck. I guide you to understand, become aware and see new possibilities.

During our first conversation we will discuss the issue, consider what may have helped you in the past and what may not be helping in the present and identify some short term goals.

From here if you decide you would like to book a therapeutic session, we will begin to formulate and agree a treatment plan. This is a plan specifically tailored to your needs and requirements and will recommend how many sessions may be optimal for positive results.

I support clients outside of session via email and text, in this way we are able to continue progressing through any normal hiccups that daily life can throw our way.

It is vital that our relationship is based upon trust and you believing I have the knowledge and skills to guide you in the right direction.

With teenagers I prefer to work in collaboration with the parents, whilst adhering to confidentiality.  I offer a waiting room for parents during each session.

I work with clients from my therapy room in Chilbolton, Hampshire, or via phone/online video call.

Some of the issues I work with are:

  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Trauma
  • Depression
  • Phobias
  • Pain
  • Habits
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Stress
  • Anger
  • Bedwetting
  • Insomnia
  • IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a problem, even if it is not listed here.  I am always very honest, if I feel unable to help you I may be able to refer you to a more appropriate professional.

As I am often with clients, the quickest way to get in touch is either using the contact form on my website or email - inmindtherapy.hello@gmail.com
