Deborah Hill: M.A.,BSc (Clinical Hypnosis) DipHE, HPD, Cert. EMDR
I have been working as a professional Hypnotherapist for 12 years and I am completely committed to offering you the best service possible to help you achieve the lasting changes that you want. I am passionate about the benefits of hypnotherapy and this motivated me to be one of the first hypnotherapists in Europe to study for a BSc in Clinical Hypnosis. During 3 years of study, I learned the fascinating science behind mind-body connection and I was awarded a First Class Honours Degree. This entitles me to describe myself as an Advanced Practitioner of Hypnotherapy and a Clinical Hypnotherapist.
My practice is conveniently located in the centre of Sheffield. However, since the Corona Virus lockdowns, I am working via Zoom. This works very well. Zoom is free and very easy to download onto your computer.
I have carried out clinical research in the areas of Hope, Optimism and Well-being and have seen these three areas significantly increase in people through hypnotherapeutic intervention. I am able to synchronize a combination of skills, knowledge and experience and use them to maximize the therapeutic benefit for each individual client.
Treatments for PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder)
I am professionally trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is a highly effective treatment for trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I use EMDR very effectively in conjunction with hypnosis to alleviate the effects of significant, negative emotional events.
Additionally, I have trained in the Rewind Technique, which is a treatment that targets a specific traumatic experience. Following the Rewind, you will find that your trauma is no longer triggered by external stimuli. You are still able to ‘access’ the memory but it will no longer affect you in the same way.
What do you want to achieve?
If you are motivated enough to seek help, then I fully believe that you have within yourself, the resources that you need to make the changes that you want, whether it is to stop gambling, address a phobia, enhance your performance or to let go of unhelpful anxieties. I have wide experience of working with a range of issues including unwanted habits and behavioural addictions or unhelpful thought processes leading to difficulties with self-esteem, confidence, anxiety and depression. My approach is warm, caring and always client-centred.
As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, my role is complementary to traditional medical practice. If you have an issue and are unsure whether hypnotherapy can help, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I will help you develop awareness of your own resources, abilities, knowledge, understanding and capabilities and provide you with enabling strategies for change. Change could be represented in new ways of thinking, new ways of using language to communicate, new perceptions, changing attitudes, new ways of responding to a problem or a person, altered behaviours, increased self-understanding or increased levels of optimism and feelings of well-being.
I have a Masters in Relationship Therapy (Distinction) and have developed significant understanding of Systemic and Psychodynamic theory. I work for Relate and have 5 years’ experience of working therapeutically with couples and families.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, working at all times in accordance with their Code of Ethics.
My first Degree was in Fine Art. Hypnotherapy is a creative process and I feel my creativity greatly assists my therapeutic work. My previous working roles have always involved working creatively with people and community. I have direct experience of people's emotional and physical struggles and my commitment to making a positive contribution led me to volunteer for six years for a mental health charity.
I am fully CRB checked and have wide experience of hypnotherapeutic work with children.

I am fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR is recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) as one of the most effective treatments for trauma and PTSD. The reason that this particular form of therapy is more effective than other more ‘talking focused’ therapies such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is that trauma is located in the ‘emotional centres’ of the brain. There is a strong physical/body component to trauma and EMDR provides the space for you to ‘reprocess’ the experience, safely through guided therapeutic channels so that you no longer hold the trauma in your every day awareness. As a result, you will feel healed, restored, more in control, more relaxed and at ease with yourself.
British Society of Clinical Hypnosis
The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) is a national professional body whose aim is to promote and assure high standards in the practice of hypnotherapy.
There are various types of membership of BSCH, including associate members, full members, diplomats and fellows.

Information about health conditions (*)
Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.
We would need to meet first for an Initial Assessment.
This will last one hour. After the initial assessment we would normally meet once a week for a one hour session.
My fee for each session is £67. (The Initial Assessment fee is £67).
I offer a highly effective 2 session, Stopping Smoking Programme which costs £134.
Hypnotherapy is usually effective after 4 - 6 sessions of treatments.
There are no hidden costs.
