About me
ABOUT ME AND HOW I MAY WORK WITH YOU
Sick of feeling stuck and unhappy? Perhaps with anxiety, stress, low confidence or a phobia or unwanted behaviour and just don't know where to turn? I can help.
Hi, I'm Charlie, founder of the Bromley Therapy Clinic - and I can offer an integrative therapy approach meaning alongside clinical hypnotherapy I offer a variety of evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches that I gently weave into our sessions to match your needs.
As a Clinical Hypnotherapist my approach is generally 'solution focused' to get you from A to B.
But I don't believe everything can be quickly fixed which is why I'm also currently 3.5 years into in-depth Psychotherapy training. (Working towards UKCP accreditation). This means we can dig a deeper and combine approaches to address the roots and the impact of your problems.
The approaches I use:
Humanistic - looking at you as a whole human being and how you can reach your own potential
Psychodynamic - helping you understand how past experiences can shape how you are feeling and acting in the present. This can be useful for identifying patterns of behaviour. We look at getting to the root of the problem
Behavioural - looking at ways we can change your patterns of thoughts and behaviours and learning how they are related
Solution Focused - identifying the goals and solutions you'd like to see, and using the above methods - working out how to get there. Hypnotherapy is solution focused by nature
Somatic / body approaches - working with tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) and the breath we can support parts of the brain that have become overwhelmed and hijacked and teach the brain and body new possibilities
Mindfulness - learning the skill of being in the present, without judging thoughts and feelings
Coaching - using what we know in the present to set achievable goals moving forward
I am also very hands on and practical meaning that I share work sheets and plenty of tools and resources and also set homework so you can continue your progress in between sessions. I truly believe that eventually we all become our own therapists.
WHAT ISSUES DO I WORK WITH?
The answer is I may well work with anything you’re struggling with – so do please ask.

SPECIALISMS
TRAUMA FROM ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS
I specialise in working with women who have lived through an abusive relationship and are ready to process and heal the trauma. I have my own lived experience of domestic abuse and understand that even many years later, the experiences can live on in the body and the mind, leading to anxiety, depression, low self-worth, relationship issues and various physical ailments.
I understand that this can leave you feeling hopeless, but I am here to tell you there IS hope. I work with many trauma-informed approaches to help you:
1) Process difficult past events (We can do this without you even having to talk about them if you do not wish to)
2) Move the memories from feeling ‘present’ to the past
3) Move your nervous system from fight, flight, freeze, fawn to rest and digest (feeling safe and calm)
4) Build your self-worth and confidence
5) Trust yourself again
6) Set and achieve new goals for the present and future
Please note I am not a crisis service and if you are in crisis / trying to leave a DV situation, or very recently out of a DV situation you may wish to contact an organisation such as Women's Aid. womensaid.org.uk

MY CLINIC SPACE
I have recently opened my own clinic space in the beautiful grounds of 17th century Frogpool Manor Farm on the Chislehurst / Sidcup / Bromley borders.
After years of working from a home office and renting out therapy space by the hour I became very passionate about creating my own peaceful and confidential clinic space where I can bring together all of these wonderful therapeutic approaches. Bromley Therapy Clinic offers a unique space for you to feel safe, comfortable and relaxed. I like to think of my clinic space as professional yet homely – and I hope you will too.
