About Brian

Brian Painter, Clinical Hypnotherapist has one aim and that is TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF YOUR LIFE no matter what the problem. He has been in the practice since 1993 in a quiet village location, where clients can park free outside the practice. Brian offers a free no obligation consultation so you have nothing to lose - except your problem. He is qualified to use NLP and EFT. Brian teaches hypnosis and hypnotherapy at a training school and supervises and mentors students, newly qualified therapists during their first few years in practice.

Its a completely natural state that we drift into many times during the day, If you lose yourself in a book, TV program or listening to music to the extent that you're not completely aware or focusing on what is going on around you or you're engrossed in a daydream, then you have experienced a mild trance or hypnosis. Hypnosis can be induced by a therapist in many ways but the most common is through progressive relaxation of mind and body. Typical questions I'm asked by clients during the free consultation are,
1. I don't think I can be hypnotised? Anyone can be hypnotised to a greater or lesser extent unless they are under the infulence of drugs including alcohol or have severe mental illness or problems. However the clients permission and cooperation are required. Hypnosis can not force anybody to do anything against their will.
2. Am I asleep?
No, you're in a state somewhere between being awake and asleep.
3. Do you take over my mind?
Emphatically no forget about Svengali and his swinging pocket watch hypnotising a near catatonic young girl who responds "Yes, master". It's great for films and television but totally inaccurate. 4. Are there any dangers? There can be if the therapist has not had proper training.
He welcomes you to check his credentials. Look up "The national council for hypnotherapy" (NCH) and the "Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council" (CNHC)
5. Will I Know what is happening?
Yes, you're aware of everything and you remain in control.
6. Can I drive after a session?
Yes, his practice is in a village and 95% of his clients drive to him.
7. How many sessions will I need?
Following the free consultation he will be in a better position to give an estimate to you.
However if you have any questions please do contact him he will be pleased to have a chat.

How Hypnotherapy can help you.

Although Brian has been in practice since 1993, he still sees the odd client who presents something new to him (No, he doesn't mean the client is odd but their problem is unique!)
Many of our problems are caused by something that happened in childhood which to an adult would seem insignificant.
Brian saw a lady of 62 years who suffered from panic attacks and during analysis he discovered it was caused by an event which happened when she was 4. It had lain dormant but was triggered when her husband died.
The most common reasons that clients seek his help are: Quitting (stopping) smoking (he gives a 12 months guarantee)
Eating disorders.
In the summer students seek help for exam nerves.
When it's holiday time people think about weight lost and their fear of flying.         All phobias respond well to hypnotherapy.
During the previous year Brian has seen an increase in people suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Public speaking (particularly the best man's speech), Stress, Stuttering, Anxiety, Insomnia and Obsessive Compulsion Disorder (OCD).Maybe you have a problem which you have been putting off doing anything about.
