About me

None of us are perfect, we all have something we wish to change about ourselves.

Whether your looking for help with anxiety, weight loss, confidence, addiction or phobias as just a few examples, my client-based approach as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist and NLP Master Practitioner means I can be flexible, and therefore individualise your treatment plan to best suit your needs.

We spend time getting to know how you experience whatever it is that is concerning you, so that I can really understand in the best way possible. I use that information to design a treatment plan that suits you. This will include truly bespoke hypnotic suggestion patterns, so that your treatment can be successfully completed in the shortest time possible.

I aim to provide a friendly, confidential and professional service, so please feel at ease to contact me for an informal, no-obligation chat about how we can work together to help you overcome your difficulties and concerns.

I do not make judgements about the people I work with, I believe everyone is doing the best with what they have, though with the right support and help we can all find a way of doing things better.

I have found that people seeking therapy from a cognitive hypnotherapist for a particular issue, often resolve not only that issue, but become open to a new way of thinking that allows them to improve and enhance other areas of their life.

There is nothing more rewarding for me than seeing a client take control of their life and creating the life they want to live.

Contact me to find out how we can make that positive change in your life.

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. How hypnotherapy can help?

The modern world presents many challenges that our primal (unconscious) minds assess as threats and cause emotions within us that trigger thoughts and behaviours. We can't help it, we are hard wired this way and our many thousands of years of survival as a race on this planet are testament to the success of our psychological evolution.

However, our minds have not yet caught up with the changes that have happened in our society so it's no wonder we struggle at times. Our unconscious minds are powerful and strive to keep us safe, often overpowering our logical conscious minds which have evolved more recently in our history.

Sometimes people are able to find their own way though challenges, but many people can become stuck.

Those that recognise they're stuck and seek help are more likely to live a better life sooner, than those who continue in their struggle.

Cognitive hypnotherapy provides a way of guiding you through emotions that lead to undesirable thoughts and behaviours, especially those you feel are holding you back. In a way, it can in fact be looked at as "dehypnotisation" because we are striving to change the undesirable thoughts and behaviours you have managed to unconsciously hypnotise yourself into adopting.

What to expect in your first session

Your free initial consultation with me will allow you explain what you are hoping to achieve from therapy and you'll have the chance to ask me any questions about how I work and about hypnotherapy. It is important for you to feel that I am the right therapist for you and for me to be sure that I can help you. This is usually a fairly short chat lasting around 20 minutes on the phone or on Zoom.

If we do go on to work together your first full consultation will last around 1.5 hours. We will discuss the history behind your issue and develop a plan for us to use to help you get to your desired solution state.

Subsequent sessions

Further treatment sessions will last for 1 hr, although I allow for and extra half an hour as sometimes we can be in the middle of something important for a client and it's preferable to allow some extra time in their best interests. My appointment system allows for this so that the next client's appointments are not affected. It is normal to have between 2-4 sessions, though sometimes there can be more.

You may also be given tasks to complete at home, between sessions. This may include listening to  recordings of hypnotic suggestions and/or a therapy diary to record your thoughts and development. You may also be taught self-hypnosis techniques, to help you continue treatment outside of sessions and long after treatment is over.

Where are sessions held?

I can see clients in therapy rooms at Canvey Island or Leigh on Sea, or online using Zoom.

Occasionally I may see clients in their own home if their needs make this necessary, although it has to be a suitable environment for treatment to be effective.

What is expected of a client?

We will work together in a partnership. Your engagement is essential to get you to your desired solution, as is your openness and honesty. You can expect the same from me.

I may give you tasks to complete between sessions, these won't be too onerous, but it is often said that most therapy happens between sessions, as your unconscious mind absorbs learnings. Your participation in these tasks is a necessary part of treatment.

Do you offer a guarantee?

No therapist can in reality offer a guarantee - if I they did I would question the ethics of this. My commitment to you is that I will work with you, to help you get to where you want to be with your problem and help you have a better life.

Cancellation Policy

I reserve the right to charge for the session fee in full if you cancel without giving me at least 48 hours notice.

Are you insured?

Yes, I hold specialised hypnotherapy cover with professional liability and public liability both covered up to £5million each.

Common misconceptions

Many people think of hypnosis as onstage entertainment or something that is completely out of their control. But hypnotherapy isn’t something that is 'done' to a person. The client is entirely in control - the professional is merely there as a guide.
