Hello, I am Amanda and I would like to welcome you to my profile page.
As a qualified clinical hypnotherapist and trainee psychotherapeutic counsellor my aim is to help you make the changes you want to make. I will gather some information from you at your assessment and this will then help me formulate a treatment plan specific to your needs. The treatment plan will enable me to put together the appropriate positive suggestions that I will then deliver to your subconscious mind during hypnosis. If this sounds a little daunting to you, I can assure you it is one of the most relaxing processes you will come across, and if you are not convinced I offer taster sessions so you see for yourself before you make any commitment to having full sessions.
I see lots of good results from the work I do with my clients. They frequently tell me how much better they feel after just one session and after 2-3 sessions often report noticing the benefits of those positive suggestions by explaining how their thoughts and consequent habits/behviour has changed. Noticeable changes have been reported by clients losing weight, a reduction in unwanted symptoms of anxiety and/or depression, or an improvement of overall well-being, i.e. boosting self-esteem and/or confidence.
I am a great advocate of hypnotherapy as an alternative and/or compliment to prescribed medication. I often see clients who do not want to use prescribed medication and come to me for alternative treatment as a natural and effective way of improving their health. to reiterate, many clients say they feel the benefits of hypnosis even after just one session; they say that not only feel more relaxed but less distressed with improved mood and a 'spring in their step'. Clients also say they feel significantly better with less distressing symptoms or less severity in symptoms after having only 2-3 sessions of hypnosis. In the case of weight loss, clients often notice a change in eating habits almost immediately even if it is just one or two small changes; this is an impressive start that is done by the power of the mind. These very encouraging results from my clients enables them to reduce their visits to me, to once a fortnight and then to once a month to stay 'topped up', and when ready they can go it alone.
I advise that session 6 is a good indication point as to how hypnotherapy is working for you and it is at this 6th session mark that I will conduct a review with you to see how we may change or adapt sessions, or indeed reduce their frequency, thus reducing the cost. It is important that as a client you feel in control of what you need and how often you need it with the skill and experience of myself as the therapist to facilitate and guide you.
Enabling you to make positive changes through hypnotherapy can really help you feel in control of your treatment and well-being. This not only helps in producing a positive outcome for you but is also much more likely to lead to long lasting changes you will benefit from.
I specialise in the areas of stress, anxiety, teeth grinding, IBS, depression and childhood trauma. I also focus on relaxation techniques to aid self-help and self-empowerment in treatment so you can take these techniques home with you and use confidently. This not only enhances your well-being but provides you with improved self-esteem and self-confidence.
As well as the above, hypnosis also helps to reduce high blood pressure and aids digestion (good for weight loss).

In the first instance I offer a free phone consultation to understand why you are considering hypnotherapy as a form of treatment. If you would like to go ahead we can then book an assessment for you so we can meet in person and discuss a way forward for treatment. I will then devise a treatment plan. Sometimes a consultation is not necessarily required and that is absolutely fine because everybody's needs are different, so we would book an assessment because it this is essential for a more depth understanding of your requirements. I will work with you on the changes you want to make.
An assessment will be the chance for you to tell me why you are considering hypnotherapy as a form of treatment, what you would like to achieve and I can then work with you to see how I can use my skills and experience to help you achieve your goal. Your treatment will be an ongoing process of revising and altering to suit your needs on a personal level, however the six week review will be a point where you can discuss at depth your treatment plan and make relevant changes with me. Treatment plans will be put together with your goals in mind.
Treatment sessions can be an ever evolving process but sometimes the goal for treatment is quite specific (weight loss; stop smoking) so the way forward depends on your individual requirements, that is why an assessment and the review point/s are useful for discussing your treatment needs and if anything has changed.

Training, qualifications & experience
Experience: In the last fifteen years I have worked therapeutically with young children, adolescents and adults providing information, practical support, facilitation and counselling for stress, anxiety and panic attacks, depression and trauma based difficulties.
For example I have worked with adults and adolescents and young children therapeutically assisting with their rehabilitation and socialisation. This has always included social and emotional difficulties, and often diagnosed psychological disorders which most frequently came with anxiety, depression and trauma based symptoms.
My approach to hypnotherapy incorporates my experience and a humanistic integrated approach. Every client is a unique individual and I treat all of my clients as a whole person rather than just their mind or just their physical symptoms (i.e. pain management). Psychosomatic symptoms are not at all uncommon but are also a real difficulty that can be addressed using hypnosis.
I have a wealth of experience to assist my working practice, having worked in various settings (i.e. schools, youth and community work, offender based programs) as well as qualifications in psychology, criminology, politics, sociology, hypnotherapy and counselling. It is my hope that I can provide the best possible outcome for you by working with you in a completely safe, comfortable and confidential environment.
