A Clinical Hypnotherapist in Scarborough, North Yorkshire offering you a warm welcome and a truly holistic approach to helping you make your life better. Using a unique blend of hypnoanalysis, cognitive and solution focused hypnotherapy I'm able to help with a wide range of conditions.
I am a Registered 'Advanced Practitioner' Hypnotherapist with the General Hypnotherapy Register and an Accredited Practitioner with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council, meaning that I adhere to a strict code of ethical practice, undertake regular training and keep up to date of all new developments within the sector of clinical hypnotherapy. As a member of the Royal Society of Medicine I have full access to the very latest clinical research and practice.
Prior to becoming a hypnotherapist, I worked in education, international business, business consultancy and holistic therapies both in the UK and abroad. My broad professional background combined with specialist training means I am able to establish effective rapport with clients from all walks of life.
My approach to helping clients in the most efficient way focuses on establishing the cause of the presenting condition and neutralising or reducing it to ensure long lasting results. Each treatment is completely client-centred and tailored to individual needs.
I am totally committed to embracing new developments in hypnotherapy and psychology, and undertake training and research on an ongoing basis so that clients can be sure of getting the very best approach for their needs.
The number of sessions recommended will vary from client to client. Most cases will need between two and six sessions but we can discuss this over the phone before you book your first appointment.

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

'I just wanted to express my gratitude for the hypnotherapy skype sessions we had together. They were a poignant reminder of the sanctuary I hold within myself and of the strength I sometimes forget I have. You have a wonderful way about you and I can still hear your soothing voice in the moments when I feel myself entertaining unhelpful thoughts.' F. C., Brighton
'Thank you, just doesn't seem to be enough to say to Amanda Craven. Without you I know for sure I could not have stood in front of all those people ...and talked about my mum, reading her eulogy, along side my sister.
The tools you gave me and your time and care, made it possible. I only had one chance to get it right and my sister and I did that. Thank you just doesn't seem enough.' N. C., Scarborough
'Amanda is very helpful, very professional but fills you with a calm feeling from the off... gave me the feeling as if I'd known her all my life. Feel very, very positive about the future..
Many thanks Amanda.' D. A., Scarborough
'Amanda is a lovely person, instantly making it easy for me to feel comfortable, enabling me to allow myself to let go of major issues in my traumatic long life without being judgemental. I feel sure my feelings and attitudes have changed I now have the confidence to move forward to have a happier life without all the baggage that was weighing me down has disintegrated into sand and is gradually been taken away with every tide. Thank you Amanda' C.A. Hurrell
'My session with Amanda was full of positive surprises. I thought I would find it very difficult to 'open up'. I also had a set of expectations of 'how it should be'. Yet it was all SO different ... and so much better than what I thought it would be! With Amanda's guidance I visited important forgotten memories that helped me tremendously in my healing process. I felt safe, elated and at the same time so peaceful afterwards... I will keep coming back as this was a very beneficial experience for me. An extraordinary and very gifted therapist!' A.Oldham
"Amanda’s hypnotherapy sessions worked really well. Amanda was very understanding and soon put me at ease with her calming voice. Since my sessions and having Amanda's guidance I have made a massive improvement and things are looking good. Thank you very much!" (Sally, 22, Legal Secretary)
"Amanda helped me deal with some childhood issues, she was professional and explained the process to put me at ease. I had 4 sessions in all with her and felt immediate effects. I would highly recommend her to my friends." (Pauline, 49, Counsellor)
"Amanda's hypnotherapy sessions have really helped me to get to sleep - I used to really struggle but now with the techniques she taught me I am much better. I haven't been sick since my first session and get a good night's sleep most nights now. Thank you!" (Alice, 12)
"Amanda used a holistic approach, removing possible barriers before addressing weight loss.
This resulted in discovering a lack of self- worth /importance. I was encouraged to take some
time for myself instead of always concentrating on others and knowing my own limitations,
empowering me to say no sometimes, particularly in the work setting. These were issues I
didn’t realise were a problem but have resulted in a vastly improved work-life balance and a
much happier and relaxed outlook. All these things in addition to the weight loss!
Amanda is an incredibly talented and caring professional. I can’t thank her enough for all she
has done for me." (Adele, York NHS Trust)
