My background

I have been working as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist for over 9 years. After qualifying with distinction at The Quest Institute, I gained experience working with all kinds of issues from addiction, anxiety and depression through to phobias, public-speaking, compulsive habits, lack of motivation, procrastination and lack of confidence, etc, etc. The list really does go on.  Over time I have developed a special interest in working with clients in the areas of confidence, creating fulfilment and behaviour/habit change.

What to expect from the sessions

The length of each session is usually around 60 minutes to 75 minutes.

As a guideline, I typically see clients on average for 3 to 6 sessions. In the first session, we will explore your issue and your goals from the therapy in detail. Clients tend to find this session enlightening and motivating.  I may give you a task or two to complete before the next session to prepare you for moving towards your goal. Rest assured, the tasks are all things I would happily do myself!

The content of the following sessions will depend a lot on the outcome of the first session. For example, it may involve using the techniques of Cognitive Hypnotherapy to remove limiting beliefs or install new choices. This is done using a light trance - a state which we naturally go in and out of throughout the day. These sessions usually also incorporate more traditional hypnotherapy where you relax and drift into trance while listening to me, however, I use a way of phrasing particular to Cognitive Hypnotherapy called WordWeaving, and which is tailored specifically to you.

At the beginning of each follow-up session I will discuss with you what I intend to do so you can ask any questions or raise anything that's on your mind.

If appropriate, I will give you further tasks/exercises to undertake throughout the course of the therapy (and beyond) to support and build on the changes you make during the session.

After you have achieved your initial goals from the therapy, you may feel you have everything you need to continue moving forwards.  Equally, if you feel you would benefit from additional sessions these can be arranged as and when you need them.

Further information

"My sessions with Alison have changed me.  I have always wanted to do triathlons but never had the confidence to pursue it.  What's more, I was very fearful of the water (and of swimming) which made it debilitating to even contemplate doing this sport.  But after several sessions with Alison, everything changed.  I took on my first open water super sprint distance tri that same year. The following year, I completed my first Olympic distance tri (and plan to take on two more by the end of the summer).  But the most exciting (and surprising) thing is that I've also signed up to do a Half Ironman - something I never dreamed was even possible.  It's been life changing and I'm so grateful."

"I went to see Alison Easton for three sessions. The reason I went was to discuss my lack of confidence in the work place, which was based off my dyslexia - which I’ve had from a child. Alison said she had dealt with this issue before and showed me the process to how I can over the issue.

After the sessions, I can safely say it was the best thing that I have ever done to tackle my situation. Alison was 100% professional at all times and provided the comfort and trust I was looking for to discuss my dyslexia in length.

The tactics that Alison used helped me almost straight away to build my confidence back up and feel much happier about my situation. I strongly suggest, and advocate Alison for anyone going through their own issues."

"“I felt the time was ready for me to change my direction which was slowly heading down a sloping path of Cocaine addiction. I decided to see Alison and she has helped me incredibly. I stopped abusing for almost three years, went back for a one session “re-tweek” and haven’t looked back since. I have referred many many friends to her who often ask who is this miracle worker. I simply cannot recommend her enough”

"I had not slept well for a long time for various reasons and at times was feeling desperate for a good nights sleep.  Rather tentatively I consulted Alison and found the sessions with her so relaxing; her voice is so soothing and restful and what she actually says during the sessions makes such sense that it is impossible not to sleep better if her advice is carried out.   I would highly recommend her to anyone with a similar problem."

"I was referred to Alison through a friend who had suggested I give hypnotherapy an opportunity in an attempt to control & reduce the amount of alcohol I was consuming. Previously sceptical about 'alternative' methods, I decided to contact Alison and I'm so pleased I did. She is incredibly sensitive and attuned to your needs as a patient. She listened well and came up with an approach that was suitable to me. A real skill to treat each case differently, there is no 'one size fits all' approach with her.
My 'need' for alcohol (wine) has reduced and she's helped me look at the reasons behind my drinking this thinking about the 'long term solution' rather than been reactive. She recorded an 'affirmation' for me to listen to and I have to say this has been really invaluable in the overall process. I can't recommend Alison and her approach enough."

"I had wanted to try hypnotherapy due to a food issue that had been plaguing me for years, but I had never actively researched for a therapist. After a stressful year at work the problem was beginning to intensify and after meeting Alison I decided to take action.

Controlling my intake of food was becoming increasingly difficult, I was beginning to become physically sick from either the richness of food eaten or the quantity. I didn't even really want the food in the first place and was becoming very resentful that I had created this habit I was unable to control.

After even the first session with Alison I saw the differences in my thought patterns and relationship with food. I am now able to press the 'stop button' and ask myself 'do I really want, or even need this?' A lot of what we talked about was completely unrelated to food and I was surprised to see connections and influences which I would before the sessions not considered as relevant. If you have not taken hypnotherapy before I would recommend Alison's patience and calming ability to guide you through the issues you may have."
