Is hypnosis effective for children?
While you may be wondering whether clinical hypnotherapy can effectively resolve whatever condition your child may be battling with, others are already halfway through the process and closing in on success. “Is hypnotherapy effective for children?” is a commonly asked question. The truth is that hypnotherapy is not for adults alone, the process will work on an individual regardless of their age. As a matter of fact, children are generally more receptive to the therapy because they are easily suggestible with more vivid imaginations and a much more accessible unconsciousness. This makes it easier to effect the desired change.
Children make great candidates for hypnosis because they have not been subject to the years of conditioning and resistance that adults have - at least not yet. Keen to learn, they are more open to new ideas than many adults. Children do not usually question the process nor do they tend to be apprehensive about it like most adults are. As a result, it is easier for the hypnotherapist to work with them and achieve impressive results. There is simply no wariness, reluctance and adult-like resistance.
Many disorders in children can be treated with hypnosis, from learning disorders, academic performance, and anxiousness to thumb sucking and bed-wetting.
Many children struggle with their school work and school life generally. If it’s learning and homework problems that your child is battling with, it can normally be solved with hypnotherapy. Usually, it takes one session to curtail any issues and improve the child’s performance. Substantial improvement in areas such as self-confidence, intelligence and resilience in different situations can be gained from a successful hypnotherapy session or session. Healthy learning, coping techniques, creativity and competition are just a few areas which can be positively impacted through hypnotherapy.
Children that bed-wet are often said to be immature or attention seekers. These children often feel vulnerable or have a low self-esteem as a result of the bed-wetting. The truth is that this issue can be instantaneously corrected once they are suggested with self-control. The shame and embarrassment associated with the issue can be eliminated hypnotically and thus the child’s struggle with such negative feelings will come to a stop. The fact is that the unconscious mind is in control of most of our bodily functions and so hypnosis can be a very effective treatment for bedwetting. It does so by accessing the child’s unconscious mind and working by means of combinative suggestions and copious visualizations.
Hypnosis is recognized clinically as an effective therapy which can help resolve many issues that impact upon a child, allowing the child to be happier and fulfill their potential.
