Being overweight or obese is, without doubt, unhealthy. Another reason is the social stigma attached to being overweight or obese. Society nowadays puts so much importance on body figure. Obese or overweight people might find themselves struggling to fit in the community that measures people by how they look. As a result, they struggle building their careers or even living a happy life. Stories of discrimination, bullying, and even abuse experienced are becoming widespread these days. In effect, they develop an intense feeling of inadequacy and lower self-esteem. It is not surprising why many obese individuals are now trying their best to lose weight. After all, everyone deserves a healthier and happier life.
Hypnotherapy for weight-loss
As much as people want to lose weight right away, they struggle finding where they should begin. They need to start with their mind. While it is important to follow a safe diet programme and exercise regime to get fit, it is much more important to work on the mind first to be able to achieve and maintain lifelong weight loss and more importantly a healthy lifestyle that becomes automatic.

How does it work?

There are two types of hypnotherapy, but the one that works best and recommended for weight-loss control is called “suggestion hypnotherapy”. Here‘s how it works:
- A hypnotherapist will direct its patient to the “hypnotic state.”
- Once in the hypnotic state, the licensed therapist will enter the sub-conscious mind through visualisations — where different memories, feelings, thoughts and intrinsic human mechanisms (e.g., fight or flight) lies hidden.
- The therapist will verbalise relaxing and carefully-worded mantras. Such mantras will promote a new and rational thinking pattern — helping to overcome negative behaviours. Patients have control over suggestions and visualisations.
- During a three to four hour intensive tailored ‘one on one’ session, the patient’s sub-conscious mind will be “reprogrammed” to replace unhealthy eating habits and negative perspective.
