Can Hypnotherapy work for Weight Loss?
Are your clothes too tight? Do you feel bloated and sluggish? Do you lack energy? Do you feel irritated at your image when you look in the mirror? Do you struggle around weight loss and keeping it off?
Lilly Allen lost three dress sizes through hypnotherapy, and the success rate for weight loss hypnotherapy is a whopping 95%.
Who does it work best for?
Anyone who struggles with sticking to a weight loss plan or loses weight and then puts it back on, or those who lack motivation to get started on a weight loss programme.
How does it work?
When you enter into a hypnotic trance you become at your most receptive, and this is when a hypnotherapist can reframe your thoughts and re-programme your brain. During Hypnotherapy your subconscious is able to communicate with your conscious mind. Hypnotherapists erase old thought patterns and limiting beliefs using imagery, visualisation and various traditional and non traditional techniques.
How many sessions do I need?
Ideally 6 close together, but sometimes 3 sessions can bring results. Everybody is different; some will achieve their goals quickly, whereas others may realise theirs more slowly. Having monthly top-up sessions to keep you focused and motivated is recommended.
So what happens during a session?
Each hypnotherapist has a different way of working. Some have chairs they use which you are asked to sit upright in; some have vibrating beds and some have couches you sink into. The best approach for a client to take is to ask as many questions as possible about the session and what to expect; from there, you can go with the approach that fits best with you.
What happens after the programme?
Some hypnotherapists give you a food plan; some offer dietary advice; some give you affirmations, or a mantra; some ask you to keep a food journal. Again, each hypnotherapist has a different approach.
Does it work?
As Paul McKenna rightly says; 'only if you are committed to making changes, as Hypnotherapy is not a magic tool for those who want something to fix them without making any effort at all'. You have to want to lose weight; and if you do, weight loss through hypnotherapy is incredibly effective.
What is the cost?
It varies considerably. Often the price drops down if you book a programme of more than one session. Factors such as location and experience will also play a part. Prices may start at £100 a session up to £300 a session. It can be helpful to choose a hypnotherapist who is registered with a recognised body, as then you know they are abiding by a Code of Ethics.
