Addictions can be helped

Whether it's a drug addiction i.e. cigarettes, cocaine etc, or even a food addiction where you just cannot say no to chocolate/bread/biscuits. You can't help yourself, you have to eat it until it's gone.

Many people are turning to hypnotherapy for help to break the cycle of their addiction. They've got to the point where they realise they don't have the control over their habit and want to stop.

Hypnosis can get you in the right mindset

Hypnosis can make it so much easier than trying to go it alone. A good hypnotherapist can help you harness the power of both your conscious and subconscious mind to get them working together to help you. Sending those addictive urges away for good is one of many helpful suggestions that can be used.

Tip one

This tip really helps clarify the mind that the addiction is causing more harm than good.

Get a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On the one side write all of the benefits you get from your addiction and on the other half write what it's costing you; financially, health, weight, self-esteem, relationships and work.

You will be able to see quite clearly of how this addiction is affecting you.

It will also help focus your mind to get what you really want, freedom from this habit. If you go to a hypnotherapist, they can use this information in any therapy they do with you also.

Tip two

Know that urges are called that because they are urgent calls to take action. Also know they only last a few minutes before they wain. If you were to add the time all together over the course of a day it would still only amount to minutes.

So knowing you only have to deal with short intense urges a few times a day and If you have a distraction plan ready, so that when the urge comes you decide;

"Right, I'm going for my brisk 10 minute walk around the block or I'm going to make myself a cup of tea or I'm going to listen the the hypnosis recording my hypnotherapist did for me."

Tip three

Procrastinate.

Yes you read that correct. If you use the phrase "Yes, I'll have it later" it can help shut up those urges.

Previously getting into the little game of mind tennis "I want it, no I don't" over and over can drive you to just partake in your addiction in order to shut the voices up!

Problem is, they come back with vengeance later to have a go at you for failing... again.

Using the above tips will help you sail through those urges, which will decrease over time as freedom from your addiction is yours. Working with a hypnotherapist can make the journey so much easier too.
