Love Parks Week, which is now in its tenth year, is a country-wide celebration of parks with a whole host of events taking place. The events range from outdoor fitness activities and open-air cinemas, to garden parties and children’s fun days.
As a part of the ten-year celebration, the organisers have launched ‘Do a Love Parks Mile’ initiative, that encourages the community to come together and cover a one mile distance in a park. It doesn’t matter if people run, walk the dog, ride a bike, dress up – all that matters is that the mile is completed and that everyone has fun while doing it! This is all to raise awareness of how your local park can be used as a place to socialise, stay active and keep fit.
So we explore a few reasons why you should visit your park:
To switch off
Sometimes it’s good to just take a break. After a long day at work, turning your phone off, going outside and simply sitting down in your local park is the perfect way to unwind. There are no distractions – you can start to appreciate your surroundings and be mindful.
There’s nothing like a walk in the local park with your family and loved ones to strengthen your relationship. There’s always the option of planning a big picnic with your friends. This can help everyone, especially those who have had a tough week or are struggling in their personal lives.
Large green spaces are perfect to exercise and achieve any fitness or weight-loss goals. You can go for a walk, jog or run, or even use some of the playground equipment to your advantage. If you feel a bit intimidated to exercise in your local park on your own, try to enlist a friend to go with you.
If you are looking to lose weight but are finding the journey tough, hypnotherapy may be able to help. By targeting the unconscious mind with powerful suggestion techniques, hypnotherapy can help you develop a positive relationship with exercise and food. The aim is to change your negative thoughts about eating, make you feel confident about your body and help you lose weight responsibly without impacting your emotional well-being.
