We are all full of emotions – even the person who seems cool and composed all of the time when you are with them. Deciding to neglect these feelings can have a negative impact on your mental health and could lead to mental exhaustion. The last thing we want to do is lose concentration in an important meeting at work because we are feeling stressed.
Here are five reasons why you may need to take a break and recharge your batteries.
You hate going to work
This could be a much larger problem if it happens on a regular basis. But if you are fully motivated one day and dreading the thought of work the next, you may need to plan some time for yourself.
Your friends or family are causing you stress
If you feel like you are constantly fighting ‘relationship fires’ with your family and friends, you may need to take some time out. Although it’s good to be there for your friends and family, you should keep the majority of your emotional capacity to focus on your own health.
You can’t remember the last time you did something for yourself
When was the last time you did something you really enjoyed? Doing something you want to do should happen on a regular basis. It doesn’t matter if it’s only a small treat – don’t push it aside. Cherish the ‘you’ time, you will feel better for it.
You can’t remember what your interests are
We are all guilty of getting wrapped up in others’ lives, forgetting about what makes us happy. However, other people’s interests should not get mixed up with your own. Take a break and discover your passions.
In your spare time you want to do nothing
When do you feel more accomplished – after a five-episode binge on Netflix or completing a project you have been tirelessly working on? When you find yourself not wanting to get out of bed, have a shower and attack the day on your weekends, it’s probably time to take a mental getaway.
