For many of us, the way we start our day sets the tone for the rest of the day. Think about it, when you start the day on a negative note (for example if you stub your toe, oversleep or have an argument with your partner) how often does the rest of the day seem to get progressively worse? Chances are it’s most of the time.
In contrast to this, starting the morning on a positive note can put you in a great frame of mind for the rest of the day. Try waking up an hour earlier to fit in the following activities (don’t forget to get to bed earlier to compensate).

Taking just five minutes to be quiet has a calming effect on the body and mind. This reduces stress levels and gives you a sense of clarity. Don’t stay in bed for this as you risk falling back to sleep, instead get up and sit in a chair and focus on your breathing.
