This is especially so when it comes to food. Losing weight is as much about how you think as it is about what you eat (and don’t eat).
With certain hypnotherapy techniques it is possible to make a conscious decision to eat healthily and lose excess fat. Here are a few to get you going:
Think about what you say
The words and phrases you use are indicative of what’s going on inside your head, and they can even change how you think about things. For instance, try to avoid using the phrase ‘lose weight’. Losing is usually a negative thing, something we didn’t want to happen. Instead, adjust your phrasing to something like ‘reduce my weight’, or ‘getting slim’.
Keep a food diary
It’s so easy to lose track of what you eat, when and how much. Try recording your habits in a food diary to see the patterns emerge. You might notice particularly vulnerable times, such as at the end of the day, or at weekends. It’s these you need to target. By assessing your behaviour, you can learn to become conscious of previously unconscious cues that got you craving bad things or eating more than you should.
Plan what you eat
Planning is fundamental when it comes to losing weight. If you can add structure to your habits then you can avoid any cravings or slips. If you stock up on health foods and know exactly what you’ll be eating every evening then you’re less likely to go out and get a take-away or some kind of fatty snack on a whim.
