Scientists have found that numbers of young reproductive cells in male embryos dramatically reduced when exposed to the effects of tobacco.
The study involved comparing the amount immature cells that became male sperm and female eggs in the tests of smoking and non smoking women.
Smokers were found to have less than half as many germ cells as those from non smokers and the number of non reproductive somatic cells also experienced a reduction of more than a third in tests of embryos from smoking mothers.
