Shona Kitchener wanted a more natural approach to her pregnancy, particularly as she suffers from epilepsy.
The self hypnosis technique helps to induce deep relaxation, allowing the mother to be calm and make the birth a positive experience.
Since giving birth, Shona Kitchener has trained as a natal hypnotherapy practitioner, the first person to do so in Cambridge, opening up the option to many more people.
She said: “It enables you to be relaxed and be a in a happy place whatever the circumstances of the birth. When I listened to the CDs I was deeply relaxed and I found it a really nice time for me and my baby bump.
“Although I didn’t have the perfect birth, using Natal Hypnotherapy allowed me to have a positive birth that I can look back on with a real sense of joy.”
