About me

I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist and my practice is located in the west end of Glasgow just off Great Western Road/Byres Road, offering an outstanding service to adults and teenagers who experience anxiety disorders, behavioural and emotional problems, and family and relationship problems. I have worked for more than 15 years in private practice. Currently I offer online sessions only.

My therapeutic approach assumes a humanistic framework that is informed by  cognitive behaviour therapy,  person-centred therapy, relational psychoanalysis, compassion-focussed therapy, and clinical research.

What are the benefits of Hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is an effective clinical intervention to treat the discomforts of behavioural, emotional and health problems. Inevitably, the therapeutic changes will restore the client's well-being in both mind and body. These changes also are often reflected in new positive thought patterns and a fresh sense of freedom in making choices and decisions, allowing the client to enjoy a fulfilling and authentic life!

How does Hypnotherapy work? Hypnotherapy is a goal-directive approach to health that facilitates changes in behaviour and symptoms, as the client relaxes in the therapy chair and listens to the therapeutic suggestions. This process will achieve a state of deep relaxation in which the client subconsciously accepts the therapist's healing suggestions without engaging in conscious thinking.

After the client has been awakened from the deep relaxation, the unconscious mind will remember the therapeutic healing suggestions in association with the positive feelings. These associations facilitate the desired emotional, physiological and behavioural changes to occur because the unconscious mind will seek to replicate these feelings of relaxation and enjoyment experienced during the deep relaxation.

What is deep relaxation? Deep relaxation is a naturally occurring phenomenon, and can be compared to daydreaming, wherein we seem not to attend consciously to our immediate environment. Most importantly, during the deep relaxation the client will remain in control and maintain willpower.

What is Cognitive-Behaviour Hypnotherapy? Cognitive-Behaviour Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach based on the principle that behavioural, emotional and health problems do not stem from disturbing past events (e.g., childhood trauma), but from negative self-beliefs formed around these events (Ellis, 1962). These dysfunctional self-beliefs are similar to negative self-fulfilling prophecies, and sabotage achievement and fulfilment of the client's goals and needs. Consequently, the aim of Cognitive-Behaviour Hypnotherapy is to uncover these underlying negative self-beliefs in order to develop a more positive and helpful self-philosophy, and subsequently to create and maintain a happy and successful life.
