My Clinical Hypnotherapy Practice
Question: When should a Hypnotherapist not use hypnosis? Answer: Hypnotherapy should not be used on clients with heart disorders, a history of brain damage, a fitted pacemaker. Other conditions (where Hypnotherapy should not be used) include: a recent history of epilepsy or fits, a history of drug abuse, a history of E.C.T in the last 4 years. ALWAYS consult your own Doctor if you have any doubts.
Question: How many Hypnotherapy sessions will I need? Answer: Most treatments show progress after one session, usually long lasting effects take two to five sessions. The "Stop Smoking Session" is a single two hour session where the Hypnotherapist works on the client's motivation and doubts about stopping smoking using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for the first hour.
Question: Where is your private practice based? Answer: My private practice is based in Hounslow (West London), close to Heathrow Airport. See locations page for further detailed information. I carry out my Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) sessions there as well as my Clinical Hypnotherapy and Counselling sessions.
Question: If I am house bound due to my anxiety or I just feel more comfortable having my Clinical Hypnotherapy sessions at home, is it possible to arrange home visits? Answer: Certainly, I practice as an outreach Counsellor, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist within a ten mile radius of Egham.
Question: Apart from feeling relaxed mentally and physically are there any other sensations in a Hypnotherapy session? Answer: The signs and symptoms the Hypnotherapist would be looking for include, rapid eye movement (REM), eyelids fluttering, eyes watering, slurred speach, muscle jerks, tummy rumbling and deep relaxed breathing. Under Hypnotherapy the key things clients may feel are a slight tingling or numbness in the hands and feet, slow heart rate, heavy limbs and a sensation of floating or sinking.
Question: Does Hypnotherapy work? Answer: Most definitely if it has these key factors ; good rapport between the Hypnotherapist and client, faith and belief in the therapist and therapy and motivation to succeed on the part of the client.
Question: What is Hypnotherapy used to treat? Answer: A competent Clinical Hypnotherapist will employ a range of techniques to address issues such as ; weight loss, phobias, anxiety, confidence, panic attacks and to stop smoking.
Question: How long is a Hypnotherapy session? Answer: Stop Smoking is a one off two hour session that combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Clinical Hypnotherapy. A Hypnotherapy session for an issue such as panic attacks or phobias would normally expected to be an hour. This would consist of 30 to 40 minutes of Hypnotherapy and the remaining time being reserved for information and feedback shared between therapist and client.
