Profile

Private sessions, Workshops, Cognitive Behaviourial Hypnotherapy (CBH), EMDR, HypnoBirthing classes, Meditation...

Whether you prefer one-to-one sessions to help you Stop Smoking or to deal with more emotive issues, or whether you would prefer to attend a non-residential workshop for confidence building and more, Sycamore Hypnotherapy provides a professional, reliable and very down-to-earth approach.

The hypnotherapeutic process is a gentle but powerful one which, together with your motivation, can help you relax more, change your behaviours, understand yourself better, and overcome difficulties which are getting in the way. If you are feeling held back in some way, hypnotherapy can help you make the next step. Techniques include Inner Child Work, Regression (where appropriate), Goal orientation, Solution Focus, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Work, Ego State work and good old fashioned understanding, insight and relationship.

"...the hypnotherapy worked wonders...I feel important again..."    Consultant, Aberdeen

"...I can't beleive how much I loved it. I have got, and will get, so much out of it. When people ask me how the course went, I have replied that 'I think it will prove to be life-changing for me in a very positive way'. Thank you"     C Davidson, Manager

Training, Qualifications & Experience

After 10 years working in the Oil & Gas industry, I changed direction following my own experience with hypnotherapy and psychotherapy. Having spent years of living my life well on the outside but without any sense of satisfaction or peace inside, I sought help from others and experienced changes in my way of thinking. I started to come to terms with myself and noticed changes in my relationships, my work, my desires and my truth. And I became fascinated by the way we work as human beings.

I trained in clinical hypnotherapy and cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH) and the Harvest Clinic of Hypnotherapy in Glasgow. I continue my professional and personal development by attending masterclasses in related subjects. I retain membership of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) and abide by their Code of Ethics.

Besides running my private practice and workshops, I am a course supervisor and tutor for the LCCH training in Clinical Hypnotherapy.

"I can't beleive how well the interview went....they keep asking me what I did to turn it around...and they gave me the job..."  J. Harris, Project Manager

“I’ve loved it, and laughed more than I have in so long. I got so much out of this”   J. McRobbie, Manager

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Other issues that CBH and hypnotherapy can help with range from phobias to public speaking, blushing to jealousy and goals to assertiveness training.

In addition to private practise, I also offer a series of personal development and stress management workshops and also HypnoBirthing Classes. See 'Events' Page above and Search for Aberdeen.

Branching Out - Personal Development & Motivation (£150pp)

  • This two day workshop provides a start-to-finish look at how we manage ourselves and our emotions in the day-to-day and offers tools to change the way we see things, and the ways we respond.

Inside Out - Co-dependency & Self-Discovery (£150pp)

  • This two day workshop provides a more detailed look at the ways we relate to ourselves and to other people, how we can get in our own way in life and what we really want for ourselves.

Weighting Around - Weight Management and Healthier Eating (£150pp)

  • This two day workshop provides a brief look at healthier eating based on the Mayr Method and the use of hypnotherapeutic training to help you manage your weight.

The Gift of the Present - Self-Awareness, Finding Time and Slowing it All Down (£80pp)

  • This one day workshop provides insight and methods designed to help us stop rushing through life without noticing it going by, helping with procrastination and stress.

These workshops do not involve personal therapy or hypnotherapy directly but are designed based on my understanding of how the human mind works. The courses are designed to unblock our resources and to build self-esteem and confidence. They include education about how we work as humans beings, practical and innovative ways to understand ourselves, teaching in self-hypnosis and meditation. They are fun and easy to be a part of.

“It’s made a difference to my way of thinking about things at home and at work and it was nice to realise that others can feel the same way no matter how confident they seem. I really enjoyed the weekend (especially the drawing bit) and had a good laugh too. Thanks for a great weekend”    C. Wicks, Police Officer

"AMAZING! Both days flew by, learned lots of new things and laughed. Lots to take home and think about"     V. Love, Full-time Mum

Further Information

Sometimes hypnotherapy provides a quick fix, e.g. Stopping Smoking, and other times it requires a gentle approach requiring understanding of our backgrounds and our beleifs within a psychological context. While I will assess which is likely to be more beneficial, the approach we take is largely up to you and your goals.

Despite popular misconceptions about hypnosis, you will be in full control at all times. Therapy is very much a team effort. It is not a matter of me fixing you. Sometimes we use hypnosis, sometimes we don't. It is a matter of two people working together to enable you to make the changes you want. I simply enable you to do this in a safe environment.

“Wonderful, thought provoking course. Gives you just the lift you need to challenge some of the negative aspects in your life.”       A.Bishop, Nurse

IMPORTANT NOTE

  • If you are currently diagnosed with depression and are taking anti-depressants, I will need to seek permission from your GP prior to commencing work in line with my BSCH membership.
  • If you suffer from epilepsy I will refer you to a colleague with medical training to ensure your safety.
