Profile
Hypnosis & NLP:
What is hypnosis? What is NLP?
Hypnosis is a naturally occuring state similar to daydreaming, where mind can wander off, but an awareness of one's surroundings remains. It is a pleasant, calm state that a client can choose (or resist) experiencing. A deeply relaxed hypnotic state cannot be achieved without client consent, so it is completely safe. During hypnosis - some call it 'trance' - the conscious 'thinking' side of the mind quietens down, allowing the therapist to communicate more easily with the client's unconscious (or subconscious) 'emotional' side. Clients are aware of everything that is said by the therapist and can respond, move or do anything they normally would do...As our actions and behaviour are driven by our emotional side, changing any negative internal messages is essential to overcoming many unwanted habits or unhelpful patterns.
So, is Hypnosis for you?
Well, that's for you to decide, but if you'd like to experience change in your feelings or behaviour, it may well be. I offer prospective clients a free no-obligation 20 minute appointment, so that they can meet me face to face, ask any questions and see the room where we will be working, so that they feel comfortable and relaxed at their first therapy session.
And NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming, which sounds a bit scary, but is simply about the way we communicate with ourselves and others. We can often use negative language when we talk with ourselves in our heads, and often make negative assumptions or limiting decisions about what we can or can't do, or should or shouldn't. By changing the language we use about ourselves and (with the help of an NLP practitioner) challenging negative beliefs we have, big changes are possible. Compared to hypnosis, NLP 'interventions' are often done at a rapid pace - faster than the conscious mind can process usually, so once again the unconscious mind is making changes at a deep level.
So which is best for me?
That will be easier to say once I've had a chat with you, but I often use a combination of the two. I always start every session with an in-depth consultation and talk with you about what you want to achieve from the sessions with me. Your desired outcome is my focus, so all sessions are individually tailored to your needs.
What I offer
Clinical Hypnosis (Hypnotherapy) NLP and Time Line Therapy (a form of NLP for releasing unwanted emotions from the past). I am qualified and insured and a member of several professional bodies - please see details below.
About my Therapy Centre
After many years of renting rooms in therapy centres and health clubs, I
decided to open The Hypnotherapy and Natural Health Centre. Located in South West London on the borders of Southfields, Earlsfield and Wimbledon Park, it offers clients a large, comfortable space with natural light and a relaxing and welcoming environment.
What I see clients for
I see clients with a wide range of issues - anything fom phobias to habit change and public speaking to anger management. More information is
on my website www.hypnotherapy-wimbledon.co.uk but if you are unsure if I may be able to help, please call me or book a free consultation. I specialise in weight & eating issues, confidence, self-esteem & anxiety as well as Hypnosis for Childbirth.
Hypnosis for pregnancy and birthing
As everyone's fears, expectations and history are different, I choose to work with couples on a one-to-one basis, rather than in large groups. At our sessions I give women and their birthing partner, Birth Preparation Hypnosis and teach them techniques for relaxation, positive
visualisation & self-hypnosis that can be used during pregnancy & when birthing. This helps them to approach this special event in a relaxed & confident way and to expect to enjoy a positive and fear-free birth. Included in the price of the course is a free Birth Preparation self-hypnosis CD for women to use at home.
I also work with women during their pregnancy whether they are planning a natural or surgical birth and also with couples who are experiencing conception difficulties or have fertility problems. Please see www.hypnosis-for-childbirth.co.uk
