I'm a fully qualified and very experienced hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner and use a blend of techniques to help clients towards a solution to their problem. I am trained in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, Ericksonian Hypnosis and Classical and NLP Coaching. I also hold a diploma in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
What I can help with:
Men and women see me to break unwanted habits, to let go of unhelpful thoughts or to stop negative patterns. Frequently I see people whose confidence has been diminished by current situations or past events and whose life is negatively affected by this, so I will incorporate confidence boosting strategies to help you feel more positive and resourceful.
Anxiety, in its different forms is sadly all too common, and I am experienced in helping clients who experience panic attacks, irrational thoughts, insomnia, social phobia, hyper-sensitivity and other manifestations of stress or anxious thinking.
My expertise is in complex emotional issues, trauma, anxiety and low self-esteem.

The Therapy Centre:
After renting rooms in health centres for 15 years, I opened my own premises (The Hypnotherapy Centre) in 2010. Having a dedicated therapy centre allows me to offer clients an improved experience during their visit for therapy.
The therapy room is comfortable and spacious, with natural light and air conditioning so you can feel relaxed and safe. We have a waiting/reception area and all clients are offered tea or coffee at each visit. I believe that the centre is somewhere you will feel at ease and that we have all the facilities that you might expect of a small, private, therapy suite.
Additional Information & Ethics Policy:
I've trained in many therapeutic approaches and have been a full-time therapist since 1995. I am the development director of the NCH; and work ethically and within the code of conduct laid down by this professional organisation and all the professional bodies to which I belong.
In addition to being a full-time therapist, I am also a hypnotherapy tutor and am the principal and main trainer at the London Hypnotherapy Academy where I teach students to become professional, hypnotherapists.
I am also the editor of the professional journal Hypnoversity and am a writer on hypnotherapy & NLP.
At the Annual conference of the Association for the Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (APHP) 2013 I was delighted to be presented with the Chairman's Award - 'Hypnotherapists of the Year' and 'Best Technique' Award. The following year I was thrilled to be awarded with the'Client Management Award' (2014). In 2016 I was made a fellow of the APHP.
Location and Appointment Information
The Hypnotherapy Centre is easily accessible by public transport; bus, train and underground as well as by car. There is also ample free parking nearby.
I offer daytime, evening and on Saturday morning appointments and tea and coffee are always available before or during your appointment.
Can everyone be helped by hypnosis?
Everyone can be hypnotised if they want to be. I can't hypnotise you against your will, but anyone who wants to make changes in their feelings, patterns, habits or behaviour through hypnosis will enjoy relaxing into the calm state we call hypnosis. Hypnosis for Pregnancy & Childbirth
This is an area of special interest for me and I have enjoyed working with pregnant women for more than 20 years. Births, whether good or bad, will be remembered forever, so it's well worth investing in some hypnosis for childbirth (hypnobirthing) sessions where I can teach you self-hypnosis techniques help you and your birth partner prepare for gentle birthing. Whether it's your 1st baby, 2nd or 3rd I could help you to overcome any birth related fears. Sadly, a traumatic birth or difficult pregnancy can lead to post-natal depression as well as stress and anxiety in future pregnancies.
As everyone's fears, expectations and history are different, I choose to work with couples on a one-to-one basis, rather than in large groups. At our sessions I give women and their birthing partner, Birth Preparation Hypnosis and teach them techniques for relaxation, positive visualisation & self-hypnosis that can be used during pregnancy & when birthing. This helps them to approach this special event in a relaxed & confident way and to expect to enjoy a positive and fear-free birth. Included in the price of the course is a free Birth Preparation self-hypnosis recording for women to use at home. I also work with women during their pregnancy whether they are planning a natural or surgical birth and also with couples who are experiencing conception difficulties or have fertility problems.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fellowof the Association for Professional Hypnosis & Psychotherapy (FAPHP), the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), & am a member of the Association of Complementary Therapists (MCThA). I am UKCHO registered (No. 82809) and am on the CNHC register (Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council). I am also the Development Director of the NCH.
I trained at Central England College for Clinical Hypnosis in Birmingham, attaining the D Hyp CECCH. In addition, I am also a practitioner of NLP, training with Excelr8 based in Glasgow and a Time Line Therapy practitioner, training with Opt2xl.
Therapists are required to undertake ongoing training - Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and I have attended many specialist courses including:

Most people book a package of therapy, but you can book an initial appointment (which includes a session of hypnotherapy) if you prefer. The cost of the first session is £125 and includes a self-hypnosis recording. Allow up to 90 minutes for your first appointment.
Most clients choose a therapy package of 6 weeks or 3 months, but there are other options. Between our face to face appointments, we will keep in touch by phone or email. I provide a motivation and progress pack to for you to use between sessions if you choose. All packages include at least one self-hypnosis recording. I can also teach you self-hypnosis as part of your therapy package. Therapy packages start at £375.
I offer packages of 6 weeks to 6 months. Let's have a chat so that I can have an understanding of your needs and be best placed to suggest a suitable package for you. All packages include a free self hypnosis download as well as other useful tips and tools to use between sessions.
Personalised Therapy Plan
The packages I offer are more than just a set number of sessions. In between our face to face appointments there will be ongoing support. All packages also include a free self hypnosis download. Anxiety, Low Self-esteem & Negative Thoughts
Having tried several different therapies to help me with anxiety issues, traumatic stress and low self esteem I found Lorraine's approach not only incredibly effective, but also refreshingly honest, direct and practical. Bruxism (teeth grinding)
Just a quick note to thank you for all your help and guidance this summer. Not only have I learned the official word for chronic teeth grinding ('bruxism'), I have also been able to understand much more about its causes. Addressing those underlying reasons through discussion and hypnotherapy rather than simply trying to halt the symptoms has made an enormous difference. It has also been a fascinating and life-affirming journey to take and I would recommend to anyone with similar issues to book some sessions and take back control of their lives. It's not just their teeth that will thank them for it!
When I went to see Lorraine I had severe anxiety- I was getting anxiety attacks 2 to 3 times a week. After the first session of hypnotherapy I really began to see a change and the anxiety attacks stopped happening. After 6 sessions my anxiety symptoms completely disappeared. It is now 3 weeks on from my last session and their has been a complete change to my thinking, sometimes when I get anxious I look back on what I learnt during my sessions with Lorraine and I am able to stop my anxiety as soon as it comes on. I would highly recommend going to see her.
Anger & Low self-esteem
I came to see Lorraine for help with a whole host of issues including low self-esteem, anxiety, anger and relationship problems. I was putting so much pressure on myself to be 'perfect', I was making myself and others around me miserable. The issues were so entangled I really didn't know where to start and I had previously found talking therapies next to useless. I knew what the issues were, just not how to solve them myself. Lorraine used a number of different techniques to help me and introduced me to a series of effective exercises and practical ways of tackling the problems myself. I now feel so much calmer in myself and have the tools to nip any future problems in the bud as and when they may present themselves.
Anxiety and Fear of Travel
Things are going well. I do find the recordings helpful and thank you for sending me the latest one. I've just come back from a short break in Europe. Went on Eurostar and had a lovely time so feeling very positive at the moment. I'm building on things and moving forward. I have started getting the train every day in rush hour (having spent a year getting the bus!) I definitely am continuing to put your breathing and relaxation techniques into practice. I have learnt a lot from our sessions and continue to employ it in daily life. Your support has been invaluable in getting me back to everyday life.
My issue was tougher, I was increasingly unable to sleep well and it was getting beyond a joke. I booked for an initial session and Lorraine explained that I would benefit from a course of six weekly sessions for my issue. I signed-up and after the 7 sessions (but with results starting after 3) I am now sleeping well and very grateful that I went to see her. Her premises are comfortable and professional and as well as the hypnotherapy itself, I found some of the tips and advice she gave me really worked. She also has a fantastic CD that accompanied my course which really helped at the beginning too.
I'd be happy to recommend her without hesitation.
