About me

“…more successful than I could have hoped…”

As a professional Cognitive Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist, Acupuncturist and Coach, I am able to help with a wide range of body-mind issues and enable people to live a positive more fulfilled life. I've been working one-to-one for nearly 20 years and have published a book - Smiling The Moon - with Hay House the world's leading personal growth publishers.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy works by changing the root of your problem and is designed to get life-long results in just a few sessions. Your sessions are tailored and unique to you, and with simple practical exercises you can practice at home, you can leave each session feeling more control and enabled to change your problem in a short time.

Please call 07887 682291 for a free initial consultation to see how I can help you or go to www.graceful-change.co.uk

What can Cognitive Hypnotherapy help with? If you are motivated to change your life, I've found over the years it can help with a wide variety of issues - from anxiety, panic attacks and phobias, to negative emotions and depression; and addictions to fear of flying. I also work with weight loss, post trauma stress resolution and sports performance. And less defined aspects of life such as ‘life purpose’, change of life stress, and motivation.

Please feel free to contact me to find out more about how I can help you, call 07887 682291.

How does it work?  Underneath any habit or aspect of your self you’d like to change, are patterns of thinking and beliefs that are hidden from your conscious rational mind. It is in this subconscious where your mind’s ‘programming’ takes place and from where your behaviour manifests. Cognitive Hypnotherapy is solution focused and works in this area of mind to change negative or unhelpful behaviours into positive or neutral ways of being, to bring you the life you want.

A bit about me.  I moved with my wife from Perthshire to Edinburgh in 2010 and we both enjoy working together as directors of the Healthy Life Centre in Bread Street. I've always been inclined to help folk and even set myself up as an unofficial student counsellor whilst at school!

For years I’ve been successfully helping people get the most out their lives and overcoming problems that they once thought permanent.  And having studied oriental medicine, I have an eastern clinical background that provides an interesting philosophical foundation to build on my ‘western’ psychotherapeutic training and understanding.  I have a very simple and down-to-earth approach which enables me to work successfully with all kinds of problems. And having studied practical philosophy and meditation, I enjoy helping folk find fulfilment in the more spiritual aspects of themselves too.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained with Trevor Silvester, the founder of Cognitive Hypnotherapy at the Quest Institute, Regent’s College in London. The Quest training is extensive and includes leading-edge trauma resolution techniques such as NLP (neuro linguistic programming), EMI (Eye Movement Integration), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and Project You coaching. I also continue my studies with the Human Givens College and Uncommon Knowledge.

I also trained at the London College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and continued post-graduate studies in the UK and China.

I am a member of the following organisations:
