A bit about me!
SFS Therapy is a private practice and is run by myself, Sue Learoyd-Smith (PhD., BSc., MBPsS., DHP). I specialise in working with anxiety disorders and works with both adults and children. Committed to delivering a client centred approach to working, this means I always put you, the client at the centre of the care you receive. I am also committed to research in the area of mental well-being/health and am a founder member of the British BrainWorking Research Society, thus ensuring you receive the most up to date treatments available.
Where is SFS Therapy Based?
SFS Therapy has invested in restoring the old Labour Hall in Hyde Road, Upper Stratton. Whilst construction work takes place, I am practicing in a purpose built therapy room which is located at the rear of Hyde Road and can be accessed via Pritchard Close - directions will be provided on booking. The current therapy room is a stand alone room which means it is very private. Parking is available and, as it is a ground floor location it is easily accessible.
What issues do I work with?
I work with a range of issues (see the list below) and specialise in working with anxiety, depression and stress related issues.
I offer smoking cessation therapy using either hypnotherapy or Brain Working Recursive Therapy.
Who do I work with and what hours?
I work with Adults, Young People and Children and offer both a face to face service as well as a Skype/FaceTime service. Increasingly, I am involved more and more with working with parents.
Whilst my hours are by appointment only, I work evenings and weekends as well as some week days.
What other therapies do I use?
BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT®)(see bwrt.org for more information)
Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy
I have a Degree in psychology and a Doctorate in Education/Psychology (specialist area of School Related Anxiety).
I have DBS clearance allowing me to work with Children and Young People and am the specialist advisor for other therapists using BWRT® for working with children.
Having a wide range of tools to work with means I offer a range of possible solutions!
What will happen at my first appointment?
I recognise that trying something new can often be quite daunting. This is why I offer a free initial consultation as it provides you with the opportunity to find out more about the types of therapy I offer.
When we first meet I will take the time to explain exactly what is involved and the different types of therapy available. I will also ask you some questions about why you feel you need therapy and provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions. Some clients do choose to book therapy straight away but there is no obligation to do this. I advice clients to read the information provided at the initial consultation and then contact me should you wish to book treatment. Of course, if you do want to book sessions straight away, that is fine too.
