Sheila studied psychology at Wolverhampton University and became interested in hypnotherapy after a short hypnotherapy session cured her of a long standing nail biting, something that she'd previously tried all sorts of unsucessful cures for.
Gastric Band Hypnotherapy, weight control, HypnoBirthing, stopping smoking, stress, anxiety and phobias plus a whole range of issues and with impressive results she regularly has referals from local doctors and midwives.
Sheila structures her treatments to suit the individual requirements of her clients, giving them tools and techniques that can help them transform the rest of their lives.
She runs weekly HypnoBirthing antenatal classes and has taught pregnant midwives, surgeons, consultants and GPs how they can have an easier, more enjoyable and safer birth for their baby. She has also lectured student midwives.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a normal state that we go in and out of every day without even noticing. Daydreaming is a natural state of hypnosis, driving a car without even noticing where we are going or being engrossed in a TV programme or good book. So we are all very good at it. Hypnotherapy makes use of this state.
What is hypnotherapy?
How does it work?
Most of us at some time in or other have symptoms caused by the problems in our lives. You're worried you can't sleep, you're stressed so you smoke, you're anxious so you bite your nails. Sometimes problems can be deep rooted so you don't even know what they are.
The key is not to treat the symptoms (pills to help you sleep, alcohol to try and relax) but to identify the problem and deal with it.
Very often these problems are hidden awaay and controlled in the part of the mind we call the subconcious. We don't necessarily recognise it because we are too busy dealing with the symptoms.
Hypnotherapy helps us to deal with these problems and uses hypnosis to relax the concious mind, reach the subconcious and then make beneficial suggestions, focussing on what needs to be done to resolve the problem. It's as simple as that.
What will happen?
The first hypnotherapy sessionstarts by taking some details - for example, making sure hypnotherapy will fit in with any other treatment you may be having
You will be helped to get into a pleasant state of relaxation. This cannot be done against your will and you can still reject any suggestions if the are not right for you. It's not like stage hypnotism.
It is in this relaxed, comfortable state that the problem can be sorted out and benefical suggestions made as to how it can be dealt with.
There are meany conditions that can be dealt with by hypnotherapy. Some like Stopping Smoking can be done in just one session.
"I haven't had a cigarette for 6 months now and I can't ever imagine smoking again thanks to a one hypnotherapy session with Sheila"
Anne - ex smoker Kidderminster
Other conditions may need more than one session, but in all cases , the experience is pleasant and relaxing.
Hypnotherapy is safe and effective. You remain in control at all times. There are no unpleasant side effects, in fact quite the opposite. The deep relaxation from hypnosis can help you sleep better, regulate your blood pressure and give you more energy.
"Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the help you've given me. Not only have my night times much improved but I am learning to relax and stay calm which is something I have always struggled with.
I had lazer eye surgery and would not have been able to do it without the help of your relaxation CD"

Hypnotherapy can be very helpful in reducing anxiety. Also when you are deeply relaxed it puts your body into a healing state so if you have to go through any medical proceedures, your body has the ability to heal faster
Recently Sheila has been working with cardic patients to help them reduce their anxiety and recover from their treatment more effectively
She has also put her vast hypnotherapy knowledge to good use to help her recover from cancer without chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
