My name is Sarah and I trained with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, members of the UKCP.
Hypnotherapy is an effective, natural and powerful way to facilitate changes in your life, and change habits, behaviour and emotional patterns which no longer serve you. I work with an evidence based approach, tailored to the specific needs of you as an individual. Hypno-psychotherapy is an excellent and generally, pleasant way to help you relax, refocus and manifest your goals. What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of altered consciousness that we all experience on a regular basis. For example when we drive somewhere on autopilot and on arrival have no recollection of the journey, or when we are so engrossed in something that we do not hear (or choose not to hear!) someone call our name. It is similar to that feeling between sleep and being awake when we are aware yet deeply relaxed. Using this state in a therapeutic way enables you to allow your unconscious mind to become far more receptive to suggestions and your desires. It can allow you to more easily instigate the changes you desire.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy in integrative Hypno-Psychotherapy.* In plain English this means that I use hypnotherapy in conjunction with psychotherapeutic techniques and am not bound or limited by any single theoretical approach. I am therefore able to select from a number of tools and techniques allowing me to adapt my approach to the specific needs of you as a unique individual.
Integrative psychotherapy includes the study of techniques from CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy, NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Humanist and Mindfulness theories. I am able to select from a wealth of techniques from different theoretical approaches, allowing me to offer truly client centred and solution focused therapy to achieve whatever it is that you wish to change in order to improve your experience of life.
Additional training in psychology and psychotherapy assists a hypnotherapist in helping you to achieve your goals more effectively. It provides a better understanding of the issues and challenges faced by you as a client and how best to assist you in moving forward in your life.
Through the process of therapy I will help you understand more about how your mind works and to gain insight into yourself. I want to empower you to implement the changes you seek. How many sessions will I need?
Therapy is an individual process, many people find 3-8 sessions are sufficient. No two clients are the same however and we will work at your pace and take as much time as you need.

It is important to choose a therapist with appropriate training and experience. My masters level certificate is from the NCHP, members of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. I continually invest time and money in my professional development to ensure I offer the best therapy I can.

My name is Sarah, I have a degree in psychology from Loughborough University and practice as a hypno-psychotherapist in Reading and Newbury. My professional training was with The National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, a member of the UKCP, (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). I have worked as a Complementary Therapist since 2003, running my own business and working in a variety of settings. My Retreat in Reading has been offering therapies since 2011.
From 2008 until 2015 I offered treatments within the NHS and Sue Ryder Care , working with patients, families, staff and carers affected by life limiting illness. I have found over the years that is so important to support those who care for others, in order to ensure their wellbeing and allowing them to better fulfill their vital role, supporting others whilst taking care of themselves. I have developed an understanding of the far-reaching effects and challenges, both physical and emotional, which such illnesses place both upon the individual as well as the people close to them. I have completed additional training in this area at St Christopher’s Hospice in London*. Therapies can help to reduce the physical and psychological demands of illnesses such as cancer, MND, multiple sclerosis and others, complementing medical treatments. They can reduce anxiety, symptoms, side effects of treatments, improving sleep and enhancing general wellbeing. I have experience of helping people work through grief and bereavement.
Achieving relaxation allows the body and mind to reset and rebalance, it is a skill which comes naturally to children, but that many adults lose as a result of the multiple demands on our time and attention. By allowing yourself a moment to relax and recharge, you offer yourself the opportunity to reflect and reassess what is important to you and thus clarify your priorities and values. This enables you to move forward towards your goals and dreams, letting go of things that no longer serve you. My aim is to help you reach your potential, to enable you to be the best you can be and to better tackle the challenges you face in your life.
