About me

Cognitive Hypnotherapy, in person at Wheathampstead Well-being, Hertfordshire and online.

Welcome! My name is Sarah Ariss and I am an experienced Cognitive Hypnotherapist and QCH Training Manager at the Quest Institute, Regents University, London. I am also a Clinical Supervisor (Accredited by the Association of Psychological Therapies) and provide supervision for other therapists in their work.

I love the work that I do and enjoy helping each indiviual client, whatever the reason might be that they come to therapy. For me, the most important thing is not to label you, but to help you, as a person, move forward in life to a place where you can feel happier, calmer and more confident.

I specialise in working with clients who are experiencing Anxiety, although I also work with other issues. I have experience working with children over the age of 12 as well as older students and, of course, adults of all ages.

I love working as a therapist and my aim is to give you the best care possible. The work we do together is about you, the client, and I will do the best I can to help you feel comfortable and safe in our sessions.

I work with clients from across the world via Zoom and also run a Tuesday clinic at my practice in Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire, UK.

My Practice

My practice is based in Whathampstead, Hertfordshire, in lovely private rooms, with free parking and a warm, welcoming atomosphere.

Appointments in person here are available on Tuesday afternoons, beginning at 1.30pm. My online appointments are available from 9am to early evening every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I am available to answer any questions you might have Monday to Friday.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a practical talking therapy that is evidence based and works in a client focused way to move you from where you are now to the place and person you want to be.

I use hypnotherapy alongside aspects of Positive Psychology, AMDR, Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP, Gestalt and other modalities, depending on your need. We work at your pace, with your well being in mind.

Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy means that I am trained in AMDR, EFT, Timeline Reprocessing, Rewind and other therapeutic techniques which I can call on to help each unique client.

I am fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS certificate. I am also a member of the government's Complementary and Natural Health Care Council, as well as the National Council for Hypnotherapy and the Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy Professional Association. Being a member of these associations means that I have attained a high level of training, continue to enhance my training and work to a strict code of ethics.

For me, you are the important person in the therapy partnership. The sessions are relaxed and non-judgmental with the aim of us working together as a team so that you can achieve change that lasts.

How Many Sessions Will I Need & How Much Will It Cost?

On average I see clients for between 3 and 6 sessions. It is possible, however, that I will see you for more sessions than this, or fewer.

Each session is £90.

What Can Hypnotherapy help?

Just because something has been in your life for a long time, does not mean it has to be there forever. Sometimes we need help to enable us to break free of a negative loop of behaviour.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy can help many problems - among them Anxiety, Fears and Limiting Beliefs, Unwanted Habits and generally feeling stuck for some reason.

Sometimes we can't put a name to how we feel. We just know that we need help.

This form of therapy can help track down those negative thoughts and feelings and take away the emotion, the pain, leaving a calmness that enables you to work towards living the life you really want to live.

I love helping people to start on that road. We start together, but after a while you won't need me because you will have found your strength again.

Tailor-made Treatment.

Each client who comes to see me receives a tailor-made treatment plan. This means that I write and record a tailor-made MP3 for each person - consolidating the work we do together in my Practice Rooms.  I will send you a bespoke  recording several times during the course of treatment, depending on your needs, always working to help you on that journey, moving little by little to the person you would like to be.

Complimentary Telephone Consultation.

I know that it takes courage to make an appointment and courage to talk to a stranger about something that is personal and upsetting to you. Over time I have found that being able to have a chat over the phone really helps my clients to make the decision as to whether I am the right therapist for them.

You are very welcome to contact me and arrange to chat about the sort of service I provide. I will always reply to your email or voice message as quickly as I can. We can talk about how I work and you are welcome to ask any questions.I know that Hypnotherapy is a bit of an unknown for lots of people!

If we decide that I am not the right therapist for you then perhaps I can help you to find someone who is.

What Clients Say...

”Sarah, Words can’t really express how grateful I am for your help last week. Thanks to you I was able to have the most amazing weekend without a single wobble…you were so calm, understanding, empathetic & non-judgmental. Thank you!” J, Teacher, 48, Herts

” She is a changed child, she’s more confident in her life, she doesn’t worry about going away (only the normal 15 yr old having the right things!) and often she doesn’t even call.

It’s so wonderful to see, neither my husband or I say anything to her as I remember you saying she will see it all as normal. She even comes home and says she’s enjoyed her time.

Thank you so much for your time and patience… You do the most amazing therapy. I was so worried before we came.”

Mother of E (15)

I offer excellent customer service and particularly enjoy working with clients experiencing Anxiety, whether that be specific or general. Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a brief therapy which looks to achieve permanent results in a relatively short space of time.
