About me

Richard Lepper - HPD DHP SFHD - Supervisor - Lecturer

Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.

In life we sometimes find we need help, and that help is often just not available to us and we become stuck unable see the wood for the trees. Many of my clients tell me they did not realise just how much they were suffering by their unwanted, negative, thoughts, behaviours and symptoms it had been a slow build up and they were resigned to the feelings the felt. They didn't notice the damaging effect until things became too overwhelming. This is a common occurrence most people will relate to. It is not until the veil is lifted that we can see clearly. I do not see any difference between mental and physical health. Mental health affects of our daily lives in the same way an injury or illness can affect our mood or functionality. I believe everyone has the potential to suffer from a mental health concern at some point in their life,  we are all human, we will all face some form of difficulty or trauma and we could all do with better tools and help when those moments arise.

Good mental health is a practice, a training, and like all training, a good coach makes all the difference.  During a course of treatment (between 4 -12 sessions depending on the situation) I will help you create positive, effective and lasting change. You will gain knowledge and understanding discovering which techniques and practices help you best. There are a lot of approaches and it can be confusing, that is why I am here to guide you and build your understanding of what works for you and why. There is no mystery to what I teach because hypnosis is a natural phenomenon that can be used to great effect. I seek to empower all my clients, giving them the knowledge and practical experience they need to create the confidence and control they desire bringing positive change to their lives.

Individual client sessions are £100 per session for face 2 Face and £80 per Online session. Sessions are approximately 1hr 15 minutes and include modern talking therapy techniques, Neuroscience research data and Clinical S.F. Hypnosis.

Below is an outline of an average treatment plan and a guide to the likely number of sessions (6-12 sessions is the average for my clients to achieve)

"I offer a free Initial Consultation to ensure you have the opportunity to meet me and discover if this approach is right for you and if I am the right person  to help you achieve your aims".

During the consultation I will explain Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and listen to what you would like to see improve or cope with better. We would discuss a likely treatment plan and I can answer any questions you may have.

Sessions should (where possible) be weekly for the first 4-6 session for the treatment to be the most effective. As with all forms of learning or training, regularity in the early stages leads to a better foundation and better results both in the short and the long term. All treatment plans will be discussed on a case by case basis and monitored throughout treatment.

Ultimately it is down to the individual to decide the time frame and the investment they wish to make. If you wish to work within a budget then please do let me know as there are many options available and payment plans can be created if necessary. I am so often told this was the best gift a client gave to themselves, and one they will use for a lifetime.

Once a client has achieved or progressed sufficiently, the sessions will then be spaced out in order to support a client whilst they 'perfect & maintain' the positive changes they have successfully made.  This is on a case by case basis but often follows a gap of a few weeks, then a 1 month, then x3 months, A 'top-up' session once a year for maintenance can be arranged if desired or a client feels these would be of benefit. Therefore a course of 6 - 12 sessions would be weekly, then monthly then quarterly as a client improves. A typical client journey is 6 - 12 session over a 3-4 month period.

The number of session required is down to the individual case presented. how complex the presenting problem is and what external factors may be affecting things. I have helped many people enormously after only an initial consultation however for some it has taken a little longer to achieve their goals. There is a process at work here and every journey starts with a single step.

My experience shows me a short regular course of sessions (4-6) with 'top ups' thereafter creates lasting change. In some cases I will see individuals regularly over a few months as we work in multiple areas of their life resolving many small issues in order to create the space and confidence needed to tackle the larger concern.  Evidence shows regular 'top-up' sessions help enormously when refining permanent and lasting change. Each client journey is monitored using COPRS software which helps both myself and the client identify areas which have improved adn we can build upon.

"I am often told therapy was sopught because they knew something just wasn't right… and once things were working again they decided it was okay for the therapy to stop. It is therefore true to say you receiving treatment when you need it and you don't when you feel well again or have made enough progress to be feeling happier."

"I ask my clients to commit to themselves to the project whilst we work together. A client knows the pace they wish to set and the areas they are noticing improvement. We all know when something is working well and when it works we feel great."

"My roll is to help you achieve your goals, sharing my knowledge and understanding of the brain, what emotions are doing to us and helping to guide you towards self empowerment and a happier life as a result. I am always conscious it is your journey and your progress. That is the most important thing"

TESTIMONIALS

As a person who have suffered multiple traumas both as a child and as a young adult I have always seen myself as broken in some way. Many of my experiences were hidden from me, in that I had very few memories, but manifested in my life as physical and psychological pain and I was diagnosed with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome). From what I had read and from what my doctors told me I had had to come to terms with the fact that this was something incredibly difficult to treat and recover from, and that it probably was something that I would have to live with for the rest of my life. Prior to starting the hypnotherapy I had suffered from sleep deprivation for many years, but had started suffering from nightmares, anxiety-attacks and was diagnosed with severe depression. It is an understatement that Solution focused hypnotherapy saved my life. Even though it sounds dramatic, it is the truth. After three months of weekly sessions my sleep-pattern is now back to normal, meaning I enjoy full night sleep and rarely suffer from nightmares. I have learned to control my anxiety and I have also gained the confidence to unearth hidden memories. The biggest change that the hypnotherapy has accomplished is that I now look forward to living my life, rather than just surviving it, and that is the greatest gift of all!  I no longer regard myself as broken, instead I have mended myself and become something amazing and beautiful!"

Thank you so much Richard for your time and your skills which have given me a new kind of life! A better life! I will always be grateful to you!

Mrs K (Trauma/Depressions)

"I was introduced to Richard at a time when there were a lot of emotionally difficult things going on in my life and although, being a totally non-spiritual cynic, I never thought I'd be the sort of person who ever started a sentence 'My hypnotherapist....' I soon found myself telling friends about the things I had found out in our weekly sessions. For some people hypnotherapy is about giving something up, but for me, it was a form of relaxation and learning. Richard was always kind and empathetic and never seemed fazed by anything I told him. His explanations of the way in which the brain works helped me to understand both my behaviour and that of other people around me, and taught me how to adapt my reactions to situations and individuals in a way that has definitely made me happier. A year on, I still use his relaxation CD if I'm having a particularly stressful time of things, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone who felt that something in their life was not quite right, even if they were struggling to identify what was actually wrong. "

Miss C. (Emotional Control Issues)

I first visited Richard last summer because he offered to help tackle my awful insomnia, which was affecting my family life and work in various negative ways. I'd been having trouble sleeping for several years, and just got used to always being a bit tired (I share a house with small noisy boys!). I admit I'm pretty cynical and was not convinced that much could be done. However, with weekly sessions over the next few months, Richard taught me to look at my situation in a completely different way. As well as learning lots of fascinating science stuff about the brain, he also showed me new and calmer ways to drop off to sleep, and an entirely fresh approach to coping with the horrible fear I had about dealing with the next day. I really enjoyed the good humoured nature of our sessions. I may still be a little sleep deprived, but I no longer lie awake gripped with the terrible anxiety that comes with it, and feel so much more positive thanks to Richard...and bear in mind this comes from someone who was very sceptical about hypnotherapy!

Mrs C. (Insomnia)

Dear Richard

Your sessions with you have completely changed my life.

When I first came to you I was quite regularly drinking a bottle of wine a night, and on the weekends much more. I felt like I was in a rut that I could not escape, especially as I suffered addiction problems as a teenager and admittedly was dubious about the type of therapy as I had never tried it before. I have been through lots of cognitive therapy, which helped with some work on myself, but I was at a time (and still am) where I didn't need to keep going back over it all, I wanted and needed to move forward and gain some positivity into my life and head!!

After the 6th session, annoyingly work called and I was unable to come back, I didn't think I could achieve what we had been working on with it being cut that short, but I suddenly became aware that I was drinking less and less days a week and then that I was no longer drinking on a worknight, my night anxiety was gone and my positivity and happiness had started to come back!! I'm not saying my life is perfect but for me this has been everything and seems only to be getting better.

Thank you so much Richard for helping me literally change my life *:) happy

Miss F (unwanted drinking habit)

Hello Richard!

Apologies for the lateness of this email but it's still technically Christmas so it's allowed!

I just wanted to say I hope you and your lovely family had a brilliant Christmas and all the best for the new year!

I am starting this new year with a completely different outlook than the one I had 12 months ago and that is thanks to the help you provided me in restoring my ability to say no to my anxiety! Whilst there are still things I struggle with, it's a lot easier for me to see a way out of the horrible hole that is anxiety and that makes all the difference. It is also so reassuring knowing whenever I need to I can message you and arrange another session.
Thank you so much for everything you did for me at the start of this year, I cannot express how much I (and my mum and dad) appreciated it.

Best wishes,

Miss C - young adult struggling with anxiety

Good morning to you Richard,

Thank you for your positivity, this is what I needed to take me forward on my journey, a 'Yes I can, yes I will' positive attitude.
You've held a mirror up and I like what I see, and more importantly how I'm feeling.
My anxiety volume is exceptionally low. I'm grateful for that.
If anxiety comes knocking at my door and I let it in, I'll be sure to get in touch so together we can get rid of this unwanted intruder.

Thank you again
Calm regards

Ms M (anger and uncontrollable emotions)
